How to boot Puppy from USB flash?

#1 Post by mikemwa »

I need some help. I want to put Puppy on my flash drive so I can boot up with that. I'm not doing something right. It's not even close to working right. Are there any step by step instructions for doing this? What files to use and what to do with them? I have never done anything like this before so that might be the problem.

Thats what I'm trying to do. I got the file puppy-1.0.8r1-mozilla.iso. I put that file on the flash drive and it won't boot up to the flash drive.
Where the instructions say Bootup Puppy, and in the "Setup" menu you will find an entry called "Install Puppy USB card". Select that, and follow the simple instructions is that after Puppy has been booted up or something that needs to be done to get the flash drive setup to boot.

I had a problem with that as well. I think the instructions assume you have never downloaded Puppy or made a bootable CD from it.

So (I think) you can remove the iso from your flash drive. when you start Puppy from the LIve CD, right click on the desktop and go to Setup. At the bottom of that menu is "install to USB."

Give that a try.

I still can't get my PC to boot from a flash drive, but I'll keep trying.

Read this thread http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.p ... highlight=.
Or try Erik's Puppy - http://www.erikveen.dds.nl/qemupuppy/index.html. It's still 1.0.7, but works perfect.
