Which Puppy for HP 2133 and ASUS EEE PC 900?

What works, and doesn't, for you. Be specific, and please include Puppy version.

Which Puppy for HP 2133 and ASUS EEE PC 900?

#1 Post by MADC1993 »

Is there some active Puppy-based distro compatible with the EEE 900 and HP 2133 Mini-Note PC? My plan is to dual boot them with Windows XP (For Win9X/Early Win2000 & XP gaming)

No, they aren't mine, it's from a relative.

Is there any Microsoft-Office compatible Suite for this Distro?

We could recommend a bunch of Puppy versions that would probably work, but how well, only you will know.

Puppy is not very good at having all the special keys working on laptops, but there are programs in Puppy, that will do what those special keys do.

With so many different computer hardware setups.
The only way to know what Puppy version works, is to try it.

I always start with the latest Puppy versions and work my way backwards, if they do not work.
Why?
Because the newest Puppy versions have the best chance of running the newest browsers. Plus they have the newest updated, bug fixed, improved software.

Only way to know is try.
Download a Puppy version iso.
Use a USB installer program to install to a USB stick.
USB installers:
Rufus
Unetbootin
etc.....
Boot the computer with it and see how it works.

Here are the official Puppy versions

In order of newest to older:
Bionicpup
Xenialpup
Slacko
Tahrpup

Note:
Raspup 8.2.0 is for ARM processors. It does not work on X86 processors that you have.

Several out there.
LibreOffice
OpenOffice
WPS Office
Etc......
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)

For keeping Windows on the computer and duel booting, with an install to the internal hard drive, of some Puppy version.
Lick installer is the easiest to use.

I suffered a HP2133 for some time.
Here are some random accumulations

You may notice these were used on puppy 4.12 and lucid.
Support for the via chipset is abysmal though i eventually did get 3d video working.
Broadcom wifi was another pain but drivers were built here.
You will find more items scattered on this forum
Lucid might make the most sense as palemoon 27 works on it.

Beyond that there is nothing really.
Hope that helps.
