Hello forum and hope you are all well.
Yesterday i downloaded vivaldi from there website and installed it and it runs very nicely.
However i was wondering if someone could shed some light please on certain processes which are running when vivaldi is open.
I have as image shows about 4 instances of the CAT process running.
I assume this is normal for vivaldi as the ROX-filer is open too which i would guess is cache related.

There is, as in all Chromium-based (multi-process) browsers, a process for every tab. Then there is a process for each active extension, one for the renderer, one for the JS engine, and one (in the Case of Vivaldi) for the UI.

Oh, yeah, and one for the GPU.

Is there anything wrong with the replies given for your initial inquisition?

Thank you for the replies and yes i am aware of the multi-process nature of chromium based browsers,However i am speaking of the "CAT" processes which are running not the vivaldi ones.

I asked on the vivaldi forum and no one seemed to know.
To re-iterate i would like to know whether anyone actually knows why the cat processes are running the same time as vivaldi.chromium does not exhibit this so why does vivaldi.?

thanks again.

please forgive me as i totally forgot about that thread you linked. My apologies.

So it would seem that the processes are indeed normal.
