Co-installing Ubuntu on pre-existing Puppy?

#1 Post by paulh177 »

I haven't looked at Ub for years, but I'm feeling the need to again as Puppy's quirkiness is causing me headaches in compiling some complex applications.

What's the way to go about this?

I have Puppy (Bionic64) installed as a frugal (with save directory) on a single partition ext3 disk, booting with grub legacy

Can I get Ubuntu Studio onto the same disk without Ubuntu demanding the whole thing to itself? (I kind of remember it being very inflexible in this regard ages ago).

(There are a zillion google results for installing another OS alongside Ub, but I want to do it the other way round).

If I have to repartition it's not the end of the world, but I'd sooner avoid it.

I'm also wondering about virtualising Ub, but that's not what this question is about & I'm pursuing that separately.

thanks
