Realtek 8821CE Wireless Lan 80211ac PCI-E NIC not found

I bought a new laptop :D because Santa Claws is now owned by Amazon ... :shock:
... also I was probably on the naughty list :oops:

I installed several recent 64bit and even 32bit Puppys without problem 8) and booted from a USB stick - in future I might change to an SD card ...
They all seemed to install and run OK but not as well for video and hdmi sound as the built in Windows 10S.
Wot? Something wrong there ... but that is another question/thread

I have secured Windows, hardly used it since Windows XP - it is very different and invasive - a bit like 'paper clip' on steriods

... anyway back to Puppy .... There is only an internal wifi connection:

Realtek 8821CE Wireless Lan 80211ac PCI-E Nic

loaded in many modules with the Network Setup Wizard in Puppy - nope
none of the Puppy's support it directly ...

It is possible to load in a windows .inf but that is a last resort as ideally once running I will not want or need the MS operating infestation. Anyway I can not find the .INF file despite extensive searching

Any help advice welcome. Thanks in advance. :D

I have this wireless adaptor (rtl8821ce) & have made drivers for several 64bit slacko kernels. 4.14.131 , 4.14.158 , 5.2.11 , 5.3.13 , 5.3.15 . Or I can make a driver for your nominated puppy.

@Lobster - made driver for rtl8821ce - bionicpup64 - kernel 4.19.23 (default). Install by clicking on it in Roxfiler, & after a few seconds, either reboot, saving, OR run modprobe 8821ce in terminal & save on shutdown. Is here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=903 ... 3835032471

If you do a Bionicpup64 8.0 update by using the program Quickpet->Info->Bionicpup updates
You can then get the driver from Quickpet->Drivers

I think this is the driver pet that ozsouth made!!!

With a very new laptop.
You are going to need to be using a very new Puppy version, that has a newer series 4 Linux kernel.
Maybe, an older Puppy version, if you update it's kernel.
I tried some Puppy versions on a new laptop and Bionicpup64 8.0 was the best one at supporting everything.
Seems to be all about what hardware the Linux kernel is built to support.
Kind of hard for a older kernel to support hardware, that was not even made, when that kernel was released.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected :shock:

Yeah baby! ... thanks to @ozmouth compiled driver I have a New Puppy connected Laptop. Many thanks. Much appreciated. :D

Here is the process whilst I remember it:
- reinstalled BionicPup to a USB memory stick from my main desktop
- downloaded and added pet to the main folder on the memory stick, NOT the boot folder
- booted up laptop from USB memory stick
- ran the pet provided
- saved and FULL reboot
- clicked on connection icon in taskbar
- ran Barry's simple network connection, there was the available wlan.

Connected

Update:
just saw @bigup very good advice advice. 8) Now connection is even easier ... :D

@lobster - glad your problem solved.
@bigpup - mine not in quickpet (I forgot to check there). I've used latest source for kernel 4.14+ as I had issues with older source.
