Is is possible to have signal desktop on puppy Linux ?
https://signal.org/download/
Signal is a cross-platform encrypted messaging service developed by the Signal Foundation and Signal Messenger LLC. It uses the Internet to send one-to-one and group messages, which can include files, voice notes, images and videos.[14] Its mobile apps can also make one-to-one voice and video calls,[15] and the Android version can optionally function as an SMS app.[16]

hello to all.
I have tried to install Signal of the desktop on my Bionicpup64, but it returns with an error that does not rech to overcome.
I am sending you two pictures:
1 - the commands that I gave to the terminal;
2 - the error that shows.
If any of you have any suggestions for which I am grateful.
sonia
P.S. before the commands of the image '1' I executed the commands listed on the site of Signal-desktop to install on Linux; but that gave the same error; the commands are these:
curl-s https://updates.signal.org/desktop/apt/keys.asc | sudo apt-key add -
echo 'deb [arch=amd64] https://updates.signal.org/desktop/apt xenial main' | sudo tee-a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/signal-xenial.list
sudo apt update && sudo apt install signal-desktop

"Bionicpup68-8"? Bionicpup64? Doesn't have apt. You may want to install the latest, updated full version of Pkg - CLI package manager, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 531#985531. The name is misleading. There is, to some extent, a GUI.

Bionicpup64 has an older builtin version. It's not displayed. You can turn it on: Menu>Setup>Menu Manager, click Setup in the Left-Panel, click the red buttons for Pkgdialog and, maybe also, GPK and xpkg dialogs.

@ Sonia:-

Just to check; you are aware, I take it, that Signal is one of those which expects to be paired with a smartphone app in order to function?

It's one of the reasons why I have always investigated those apps which are 'standalone', since I don't use a smartphone....or, for that matter, even want to do so.

Yes Mike, I also have Signal on my cell phone.
But your statement intrigues me: what are the standalone applications that I could use?
Better which application do you use or have you used with satisfaction?
I could also change my mind because Signal asks me for a phone number that I had 'difficulty' giving.
