@ spotted
Fine. I however prefer a devuan based puppy, so I'm following the rasvuan 888 thread.

@ 01 micko
Family first, then work, evetually followed by rasvuan (sixtyfour ,) ) when beowulf is ready to land on.

PostPosted: Sun 10 Nov 2019, 23:56    Post subject: Few problems encountered

I copied the Raspup Buster files into a 2 GB sdcard, and it booted fine from my pi zero (no wireless version). The first boot took around 5 minutes to working desktop, second boot is much more faster, around 40 to 50 seconds to desktop. Wireless is working perfectly, but i faced some problems:

1. PPM not updating. The PPM launch fine, but I unable to download updates from the PPM, even though my wifi is connected. The wifi is working because when i ran the vivaldi downloader, i can download packages from vivaldi.

2. Stock Midori not working. I tried every site, but it sd "SSL errors". Previously, Midori can run on my Raspberry Pi Zero ( using DietPi )

Anyone facing same problems?

Testing the latest Raspup Buster RC on an RPI 3B.

Firstly, connected to the all new 'wireless network tool bbwireless'.Was running fine but so far after several reboots its wasn't saving the configuration and was having to set it up from the beginning each time,so have now reverted to 'Barry's Simple Network setup' for now and it connects instantly after each boot.I was previously using Frisbee which seems to take much longer.
Will test 'bbwireless' further later.

Currently running Firefox Quantum 60.9.0 ESR with three tabs open and a nice addition. Smile

Installed a couple more apps from the PPM.CPU temperature pet which works fine.
No luck running Hexchat from the PPM.It throws up '(unable to get local issuer certificate.? (20)'.

This version seems to save much faster on shutdown too and along with all the new additions just gets better.

The testing continues.

Well done Mick Very Happy

Hi All
Had a number of Pis for a while but have not tried any of the pups designed to run on them until today. I'm using a 3B+ with an old 8GB sd card (only one to hand). Raspup RC is up and running and is quite fast considering the sd card is not fast. Also seems to be working with my hardware clock after a bit of setting up. However, I have never got on with Midori and thought I would have a look at the sfs repository and see if palemoon or chrome were available. I get an error when I try this telling me either my connection is down or the repository is down. Am on wifi which seems to be working (was able to install get-iplayer) so I guess that leaves either the repository or Raspup. I will install a browser from the PPM. I really like raspup. Have not done much other than the above but I'll do a bit more tonight.

Regards,

Ken.

You're probably better off installing Vivaldi or Firefox ESR for the time being ,or at least until more things are made and added to the PPM.
Both Vivaldi and Firefox ESR are available from the setup tab in the menu.

All the best

@Brown Mouse
Have just installed Firefox 60.9.0 from PPM. I'm posting from it now.

Have had a couple of problems. On reboot after first shutdown, mm0p2 (the ext3 partition where I put my save folder) presumably was mounted yet raspup did not seem to find the save folder and so booted up with no changes. The onscreen icon for this partition was not shown as mounted. I clicked to mount it then had a look inside the folder and saw what I had saved was there. I then rebooted and this time all worked as normal and has done so since.
The second problem was in attempting to uninstall get-iplayer as the one downloaded from the PPM did not work. I went to install>install applications>PPM. I then searched for get-iplayer, clicked on it and pressed uninstall. You are given two options. I clicked on auto remove. However the remove package button remains grayed out and so I could not remove get-iplayer. If I'm doing something wrong could somebody please let me know what it is.

Regards,

Ken.

Maybe when you booted up the first time after you’d created the save folder, you chose the option that boots without loading the save folder?
In the setup menu tab, there is a gui to set the default boot option.

Fresh Install for the Release Candidate as recommended.
Installed FireFox instead of Vivaldi. Very good.

Some notes:
- I backed up my previous save file folder and reformatted my SD card using gparted on my Puppy desktop.
- Used the extraction program in Puppy to unzip the files, put them all in the first partition (making sure not to include the zip file)
- Setup went well, there is a long pause after the internet connection and then just when I was going to restart the graphical interface, up came further settings setup dialog ...
- Bootup time and shutdown is now realistic
- added 50 dpi on all sides as my display was under-scanned. Hopefully in future this will be automated
- This was on rpi 4 with 4 meg ram

Thanks Mick and to testers. Testing is a great way to learn Puppy.

Totally Puppy

@Brown Mouse

Can you perform some tests please?

Type
Code:
bbwireless,sh -h

The first thing to try is the 'reconnect' option
Code:
bbwireless.sh -r

If that works, then try
Code:
bbwireless.sh -d
bbwireless.sh -r

(-d is for 'disconnect')

If that works and reboot still fails to connect post your /etc/init.d/01bbwireless.sh file

I'll comb that for errors however I would like to see the file /var/log/messages after a failed connection too.

It seems working fine for me on pi zero, 3b+ and 4

Cheers

Can you show me the contents of /tmp/iface?

The script looks in order.
