See last post for experimental version with later glib2.32 by Watchdog and later dbus libraries.

Update 02.09.2019

New unetbootin tested ISO: https://archive.org/download/pup4.311gl ... 2019v2.iso

Features (new) libatomic 6.30, libgconf, libvpx, libxcb, lxrandr, sfsload, pre-record, pavrecord, zarfy, listDD, uextract, xvkbd and corrected the old leftover seamonkey problem.

Update: 10.8.2019

New Iso that has been rebuilt because of previous problems with live-cd booting using woofy 0.91 by scottman. Tested using Unetbootin (sorry can't cd's to test using livecd boot). Browsers are accessed from jwm menu. Also included the excellent Peasy firewall Monitor to be used for monitoring firewall activity - access is from network menu - choose install tryapplet. Has updated PSIP and Deadbeef static 0.72.

If you would rather perform the glibc 2.19 upgrade to 4.31 then I have included all you need at Archive.org and instructions in the last post of this thread.

There is a version of the seamonkey Browser without updater available here: https://archive.org/download/pup4.311gl ... 9tweak.pet
As updating will update to a gtk3 version which won't run. When there is a new build this will be added. Thank you. Please read on an enjoy 4.31 Phoenix.

gtkdialog4-0.8.3-i486.pet is needed to make working sfs_load-2.4. A good puppy for very old hardware or to play with.

Click on the first link in the original post. It will take you to a page on archive.org. On the right-hand side under "Download Options", click on the "ISO Image" just below that.

If you try it, please post your experience and especially the amount of RAM your computer has. Puppies, capable of handling today's Websites, for RAM-Challenged computer are hard to find.

Don't forget to thank darry19662018.

I remember years ago when we were looking at glibc2.11 upgrade we had to add a line to /etc/profile
original thread: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 614#701614

Code: Select all

export LC_ALL=C
Again will be fixed in next iso.

Reason breaks pmount.

Psip-1.42 by smokey01 is working in this puppy with symlinks libssl.so.1 and libcrypto.so.1.

http://smokey01.com/psip/

The built-in psip no longer works.

Well third iso has frisbee back in and working. Libreadline was required.

This is probably the final iso and still includes the two browsers Palemoon 27.94SSE and Seamonkey 2.46. Added Pup Advert blocker.

My 2002 Dell Optiplex GX240 would not boot at all. It is connected to a 2009 widescreen HP 22", would that be too new for the 4.31?
I'll burn the latest iso, and try again.

thanks Tallboy checking into this usually I manually frugally install my iso's - I'll use unetbootin and check this out.

Hi guys,

I have rebuilt the iso and posted ammended link in the first post.

I used Scottman's woofy 0.91 and tested by booting a fresh boot with no savefile in unetbootin which successfully booted and tested programs and all seems well this time. Unfortunately I don't have the ability to test and burn a live cd..

I will also create a folder at the archive.org site so that if you want to do a 4.31 upgrade with glibc 2.19 yourself you can.

My apologies to all who did live-cd's that didn't work - I am very sorry this happened. I have removed the previous iso's.

Hi guys again,

Right I have uploaded all the files needed for a glibc2.19 upgrade of 4,31.
here: https://archive.org/download/pup4.311gl ... 794sserev1

Browsers are accessed from jwm menu.

Instructions for doing your own upgrade:

1. Most important for the upgrade to work there is a text file called profile this should be copied to /etc this will replace /etc/profile it contains the following line..

export LC_ALL=C

2. All the lib files should be copied to /usr/lib - especially if you are wanting to run the updated psip which requires libcrypto.so 1 and libssl.so.1

Libreadline is important for a correctly working frisbee as well upgrade dhcp and wpasupplicant. Dbus and Dbus-glib are important for working browsers.

I don't like remastering. Make a savefile with your customizations and make an iso file including that savefile into the iso with mkisofs. Boot the iso with option "puppy pfix=ram". Copy the savefile on the hd from the iso and make your frugal install and you are done. You can easily fit the savefile for your hardware.
Another way is to extract the content of the main sfs, copy manually the possibly few new packages into it and rebuild it. At last rebuild the iso with mkisofs.

Edit: recent puppies have built-in isomaster.
