Hi,
I was running a multi-boot system (using grub4dos) with orecise, lubuntu and window Xp pro and some other puppies. Windows had a problem, and the upshot was that it re-installed itself and took over the mbr. I ran precise (from disk) and re-installed grub4dos. The menu.lst was still there so I thought I hadn't lost anything, However, menu.lst just doesn't display and grub4dos runs straight into the first item. I would be grateful for any help in getting menu.lst to stick around long enough for me to make a choice of OS.

This the top of my menu.1st file. the entry "timeout 30" makes it wait 30 seconds. If you don't have a timeout line, just add it.

Thanks for the reply. It's what I thought. Originally, my timeout was 10 but I increased it to 20. It seems to ignore the timeout completely.

Try installing Grub4dos again.

Maybe your reinstall just did not go correctly.

The latest version of Grub4dos Config is here:

I have seen cases of where the timeout value needs to be scaled up by a factor of 10 i.e. a timeout of 10 = 1 second (so 'timeout 30' is a 3 second pause)
