Very Happy

Thanks to 'Fred' ...
http://www.01micko.com/14-Nice-Donation

I may be able to test Puppi Rasvuan for the Raspberry Pi 4 ... any time ...
Have to wait for micko (too stupid to do it myself ...)
Very Happy

meanwhile
some tips on preparing an SD card for img files using Puppy
(do not use MS Windows as it tries to assimilate Linux)

- balenaEtcher which is for installing img files (such as Noobs, Raspbian and Puppi Rasvuan) did not work for me from BionicPup. Time waster.
- format your SD card to Fat32 using Gparted
- use this info as a base
https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/installing-images/linux.md

Excited to see micko is working on puppi raspbus (see next post)

Ah yes.. many thanks to Fred Cool

I have pi 4, 3, 0 (almost a countdown Rolling Eyes ) and a pi rack with all shelves populated.

raspbus (the next itreration?) is coming along and I'm also working in parallel on bringing raspup buster (woof-ce) up to date.

Typing on it now in midori GTK3. It's bounds ahead of the gtk2 version.

Subject description: Config.txt

Hi 01micko and thanks for this rasvuan distro used in raspi 3B+. Devuan based is perfect for me!

The config.txt I use takes care of the overscan:

initramfs initrd.gz followkernel
ramfsfile=initrd.gz
ramfsaddr=-1
dtparam=audio=on
disable_overscan=1
force_turbo=1
dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d

Vivaldi is used at the moment, NetSurf is also possible.
Libreoffice seems to run OK, havent tested all parts yet.
I have two rather large Fat32 (vfat) partitions:

Filesystem Type 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mmcblk0p1 vfat 13421056 216816 13204240 2% /initrd/mnt/pdrv
tmpfs tmpfs 473900 552 473348 1% /initrd/mnt/tmpfs
unionfs aufs 4112060 1303732 2791944 32% /
/dev/loop0 squashfs 181760 181760 0 100% /initrd/pup_ro2
/dev/loop1 squashfs 14336 14336 0 100% /initrd/pup_z
/dev/mmcblk0p2 vfat 17712128 4194368 13517760 24% /initrd/mnt/dev_save
/dev/loop2 ext4 4112060 1303732 2791944 32% /initrd/pup_rw
devtmpfs devtmpfs 341672 0 341672 0% /dev
shmfs tmpfs 227280 123136 104144 55% /dev/shm

Testing continues while having fun!

Hint: A 64bit devuan for rpi3B is available at
https://files.devuan.org/devuan_ascii/embedded/

Tack så mycket! /Olle

Hello Olle

Glad you are having fun with rasvuan Exclamation

At the moment development on rasvuan ascii is in hiatus while I concentrate on raspup buster but I have started initial development on rasvuan beowulf.

As spotted in earlier posts indicated, he is keen for a 64 bit version for the raspberry pi. I would have to support pi 3 and 4 I think but it should well be possible in one as raspup supports everything from pi zero to 4 in the one download.

All the best!

Just asking. Are you talking about Freds 'beowulf'
How much work is involved in doing a Fred for arm boards verses building a new puppy. Would a 'beowulf' work on other arm boards, I have 2 odroids sitting on the shelf. but I like my pi4 better, have it running at 2 ghz with passive cooling where as I cant get my odroid past 1.9 ghz

I'll probably start working on arm64 over the Xmas break, way busy with working lately - man's gotta eat!

I'm keen to do it since vivaldi has been working on arm64 for a year or so.

I know these latest ARM builds are in alpha (ish) stages...

But when they are more ready, did you think about creating an Issue on the Pine Installer page, to try and get Puppy listed in its multi-distro installer program?

When I get a nice script to make an image I'll consider that. At the moment creating a 'flashable' image is a mess.
