[FIXED] Problem with new mesa and lm_sensors

#1 Post by peebee »

Slackware Current has just released a new version of mesa which introduces a new dependency on lm_sensors

but if I satisfy this new dependency then xwin fails to start......!!!

Grateful if somebody could help me by testing........

iso without lm_sensors: http://www.smokey01.com/peebee/download ... -T-k64.iso

do: ldd /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/nouveau_dri.so

to show missing dependency libsensors.so.5 => not found

download and install: http://www.smokey01.com/peebee/download ... i586-1.txz

do a Window Manager Restart and xwin will fail to start

delete or rename /usr/lib/libsensors.so.5

and xwin will start

What I need is some clues / diagnostics as to why???

Doesn't fail on my kit. Posting from it. i3 with onboard intel HD 5500 video. ldd showed missing dep; installed pkg; restartwm fine. Ctrl-Alt-Bckspc then xwin fine. Checked pkg definitely installed. What I did NOT do is any configuring when first starting up. Rebooted & re-did test - no fail. Also tried with my new 4.14.131 kernel - no fail.

I have nvidia graphics - maybe it's only a problem for those modules in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri
that have llvm and lm_sensors dependencies...........

I tried the 3yo intel i3 with & without ydrv (old xorg). Ditto with a new AMD e2-9000e (R2 Radeon graphics) - still no fail.

Sorry - yes - now marked as fixed - Slackware Current has released an updated version of mesa to fix the problem:

Sun Jun 30 22:45:12 UTC 2019
x/mesa-19.1.1-i586-2.txz: Rebuilt.
Don't build the swr Gallium driver on IA32 - it leads to an illegal
instruction startup crash with CPUs that lack AVX support.
Thanks to Jefferson and Johnson.
