So, other than updating the Kernel, what are some basic items that need updating before putting out a new distro. Obviously, update the browser but I'm thinking things like gcc, etc.

Hi slavvo67.

Off the top of my head:

The C and C++ libraries, Bash, busybox, less, awk, all the GNU utils
packages (util-linux, coreutils, etc.), most recent version of apps such as
abiword, gnumeric, mtpaint and geany, probably the python and perl
libraries.

I'm sure there's more.

IHTH.

Musher0: You're always helpful! Thanks!

I was thinking though, what makes a distro a distro. So, other than the Kernel, what's needed say to move from Xerus to like the next Ubuntu....

Been dying to take Quirky Xerus a few levels up.... Maybe kicking out Seamonkey, too.
