I need to install windows10 so I can read .dcm files (x-ray) on CD, a bummer...
.dcm viewers in linux does not work.

I have downloaded windows10.iso from MS website (can use without having to register) but now need to install to a usb stick. puppy installer, dd command does not work, and since size is >5G cannot install using pburn to DVD/CD.

anyone know how to install windows10.iso to a usb stick?

You misunderstand the install process if you think that just installing the ISO to USB will work.

There is, however, at least one utility available to do this, though I suspect they need to be run from within Windows 10 and I suspect you will need a legal registered version.

The iso should be able to be burned to a DVD.
The 64bit Windows 10 iso is 4.4GB
A single DVD can hold 4.7GB.
Did you actually try using Pburn to do an iso image burn to a DVD?

Should be no problem on a USB flash drive of 8GB size.
For USB flash install you probably will need to use a installer program other than the ones in Puppy.
There are several of them you could use.
A Google search should show several.

I think he wants to install Windows 10 on the USB stick rather than a hard drive, NOT FROM a USB stick.

I read it the other way because it's greater than 5gig and won't burn to a DVD, so want's to put it on USB instead, At this moment I'm using Woeusb in MX Linux to make a bootable win 10 installer, it appears to be working, needs WxWidgets to run, here are the packages for Woeusb http://ppa.launchpad.net/nilarimogard/w ... /w/woeusb/

In any case this should be useful to know if I'm wrong.

It works just booted the win10 installer from usb.

Seeing as though you only have a single use for it, why not create a Virtual Machine in Virtualbox and run it there?

You can even download pre-built VMs from Microsoft for free for temporary use (3 months).

https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/m ... tools/vms/

You might consider using win7 over win10 as it's download is 2gig smaller.

You COULD put the VM on a USB, but you will have to make sure it is formatted to something other than FAT32 due to that filesystem's 4gig filesize limit.
