Problems with Amsynth in Saluki and Caroline

It's the only .pet of amsynth I am aware of.

I've connected it to a MIDI keyboard by Jack, and I can play the notes. The problem is the sound is bad: I'm constantly getting clicks and it sounds like there's always an LFO on it even when the actual LFO is turned off.

I've checked some online demos, there's a page that has a bunch of sound clips. It doesn't sound like that.

I've thought about it being some setting, but if I give it more latency it still does it. Other sound programs like LMMS don't do this.
