Re. Palemoon - further to my earlier post, I’m very grateful for help received from Semme and perdido (in another thread) .... however there seem to be some problems now with Palemoon (PM) extensions being junked by the PM devs.

To fix my PM animations problem, I’ve had to go into about:config and change the animations line from ‘normal’ to ‘none’. OK, but it seems that there used to be a ‘toggle animations’ option which is not available anymore.

More seriously, the PM devs decided to junk NoScript last May, which led to extensive heated correspondence on the PM forum threads and elsewhere, e.g -

Hmmm ... I’ve been happy with NoScript for many years in SeaMonkey. I can still download the last NoScript version (?5.3*) suitable for PM. but PM now stubbornly refuses to install it.

I see from my trawl of the PM forum that outraged PM afficionados have proposed:

- drop back to an earlier version of PM
- drop back to a (much) earlier version of NoScript
- use uMatrix as an alternative
- dump PM for good, consider e.g. WaterFox as alternative.

All very sad, no?

If you have a page with a lot of images on it, and want to save them all but don't want to go to the trouble of clicking on them all individually and then saving them, there's a browser extension called Download All Images;

If (like me!) anyone has trouble wasting time on certain sites when they've got things to get on with, there's an interesting add-on called deprocrastination which I'm trying out now. It allows you to set a length of time for which you won't be able to access any of a list of sites which you nominate;

I just came across this firefox extension that really helps use less RAM when multiple tabs open (especially when heavy pages in the tabs). It works by 'hibernating' non-selected tabs. Seems to save a ton of RAM:

I expect it only works in recent firefox - I don't know, I haven't looked into it further.

In Palemoon Preferences/Tabs, there is a setting: Don't load tabs until selected.
Will that setting do the same?

Hm. Neat idea. It does seem to work, too.....though, as you surmised, it's only for post-Quantum versions.

There's a similar add on called Lull The Tabs;

It basically unloads any tabs you have open that aren't active.

Oh, I like it, TBH. I never have a huge number of tabs open (never been my way) but this works very effectively - cuts down RAM usage quite noticeably - and it's only a case of clicking a 'greyed-out' tab to bring it back to life again. Highly configurable, too.

Yep; this is one I'm happy to recommend to other folks. Good catch, mate. Nice one!
