Fatdog64-802/801/800 Final [21 May 2019]
I don't update (excepting Chrome), but looking at what updates are available I see nothing that would seemingly affect networking of specific programs.

Thanks rufwoof. Maybe it's just coincidental, I did not mean to install all available updates, yet somehow it appears to have happened.rufwoof wrote:I don't update (excepting Chrome), but looking at what updates are available I see nothing that would seemingly affect networking of specific programs.
I have booted into another OS and all works as expected, maybe the issue is due to some random file corruption or config change.

What do the apps that are unable to connect have in common? That could be where your issue originates from. Since Kodi and SM can connect, I'd say your networking is set up correctly. Have you tried starting Opera from a terminal and see if it logs any unusual error messages?

Now that I look more closely, both apps that I am having trouble with use '--no-sandbox' to launch. Opera is throwing up a lot of SSL errors. Maybe noteworthy, Opera is able to connect to local router settings page.step wrote:jake29 wrote

Please install libnss and libnspr from the repo. The updated seamonkey 2.49.5 comes with new and API-breaking changes of its version of libnss and libnspr (which gets used by chrome unless libnss and libnspr is installed).

Trying to get slapt-get (cli package tool) working in Bulldog (Fatdog's initrd).
I couldn't get make static against the slapt-get source code working so I built the standard version and ran make DESTDIR=/sg ... to get the relevant files ready. Ran ldd slapt-get ... and copied the libs also into that (I copied them all into /sg/lib64). Also copied across the full version of ssh (so uses that instead of DropBear) along with /etc/ssh and /etc/ssl folders, and gpg (along with copying across Fatdog's /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc) ... and the relevant additional libs for ssh and gpg. Made a sfs of the /sg folder and after booting into Bulldog I mount that sfs, cp -ar the files to / ... and slapt-get runs OK. However you can't get anything until after the local database of packages has been updated and when I run slapt-get --update I'm hitting problems
At a loss as to whatever else may be required. Any suggestions as how to get slapt-get working in BullDog would be appreciated. TIA.

/var/slapt-get has a range of files (mostly dot http files, along with a package_data file (of reasonable size), but slapt-get search or install doesn't seem to see anything, just returns nothing. Tried also installing gnupg1 and copied across /root/.gnupg folder and contents ... still nothing.# slapt-get --add-keys

Your slapt-get can't find those files because they aren't in the repo. I don't know about your build, but those files aren't needed for Fatdog64 base slapt-get to work and download/install packages. Checksums aren't signed. You can compare the output you're getting from --update and the output you'd get from the base slapt-get and they should look the same, I think. Also, even with the base slapt-get you need to update before you can download anything, that's the way it's supposed to work. You said that you can install after an update. What else do you want to achieve?

Hi step.
No I can't install after --update. Can't even --search either. The package 'database' is all there (at least it seems to be), just nothing is returned, nor installed.
slapt-get --search leafpad ... returns nothing
slapt-get -i leafpad ... does nothing.
EDIT: after running strace it was indicating that /var/log/packages was the problem. Created that folder and both --search and -i (install) work (at least up to the point where it indicates I also need to install /sbin/installpkg into the sfs)

This is the output from running dash -x /sbin/installpkg ncdu.....tgz i.e. after attempting to manually run a ncdu package installation
That looks much the same as when I do the same under Fatdog (main desktop). But none of the files actually get installed (/usr/bin/ncdu for example just isn't there afterwards) despite having apparently run through the package installation OK.+ unset LANG LC_CTYPE LC_NUMERIC LC_TIME LC_COLLATE LC_MONETARY LC_MESSAGES LC_PAPER LC_NAME LC_ADDRESS LC_TELEPHONE LC_MEASUREMENT LC_IDENTIFICATION LC_ALL

multi-display unfunctional - Fatdog64-802
I have two monitors hooked up to the pc, both of them only have a vga port available. one is connected to the onboard vga port using integrated video chip within the cpu - intel core 2 quad, the other is connected to the vga port on a discrete video card - AMD Radeon HD6450.
There is a BIOS option that can be set to specify which video card is the primary display - onboard or PCIe. when Fatdog64-802 booting up, I can see the booting text messages are showing on both screens, but after x-window starts, only the primary screen works.
I have Fatdog64-802, BionicPup64-8.0, BionicPup32-8.0 and DpupBuster64-8.0 installed on the same machine, all frugal installs.
As showing in the following screen shots, this problem happens only on Fatdog and DpupBuster, LxRandR is unable to detect the secondary monitor. BionicPup64 and 32 versions do not have this problem, both screens work fine and LxRandR can detect both monitors successfully.
By comparing the startup config with BionicPup64, I modified the file /root/Startup/lxrandr-autostart as the following:
but still got no luck.
I have checked in gslapt that xf86-video-intel and xf86-video-amdgpu have been installed by default, so I guess I am not missing any video drivers in my case and get stuck here.
Are there any other config files that I needs to modify to make both monitors work in fatdog? Thanks in advance.
Code: Select all
#!/bin/dash
#xrandr --output VGA-1 --mode 1680x1050 --rate 59.95
xrandr --output VGA1 --auto --output VGA-1 --mode 1680x1050 --rate 59.95 --left-of VGA1
I have checked in gslapt that xf86-video-intel and xf86-video-amdgpu have been installed by default, so I guess I am not missing any video drivers in my case and get stuck here.
Are there any other config files that I needs to modify to make both monitors work in fatdog? Thanks in advance.

@chesterpeng - It may not be much help, but xrandr also supports the use of '--primary' to specify main monitor. I have also personally used two external monitors with Fatdog64 successfully; one VGA (possibly with DVI adapter), the other HDMI.
Example:
Additionally, you can also control which monitor an app opens by editing: /etc/xdg/openbox/rc.xml
Example:
Code: Select all
xrandr --output VGA1 --primary --auto --output VGA-1 --mode 1680x1050 --rate 59.95 --left-of VGA1
Chester, please open terminal and run and attach output here. Also attach output of /var/log/Xorg.0.log here.
Code: Select all
xrandr --listproviders

Thanks Jamesbond:
the output of xrandr --listproviders is as following
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (it is quite big, more than 750 lines and I cannot paste it as a whole here. I have to separate it in half, first 400 line)
the output of xrandr --listproviders is as following
Code: Select all
# xrandr --listproviders
Providers: number : 2
Provider 0: id: 0x9c cap: 0xf, Source Output, Sink Output, Source Offload, Sink Offload crtcs: 4 outputs: 3 associated providers: 0 name:CAICOS @ pci:0000:04:00.0

@jake29
I tried to add the --primary parameter into the file and nothing changes.
The two monitors that I have, one is quite old and only has a vga port, another is newer and except a vga, it also has a HDMI port. If I connect both monitors to the Radeon HD6450 card, (one connect to the vga port, the other to HDMI), then both work fine because, in this case, I only use the AMD video driver. My problem is that I have to save the HDMI port on the newer monitor for my laptop which only has a HDMI output for a 2nd display.
Thanks for the help.
