I burnt ScPup64 19.06+4 iso to disk and it booted my MacBook pro 9,2 without a problem. Then I used the usb UEFI installer on a cheap 32gb lexar flash drive. When I tried booting with just the usb drive it booted up in EFI flawlessly! Runs great. I tried my little lexar ScPup64 on about three legacy macs I have sitting around and they all booted flawlessly. Even on a 13 year old imac with 2gb memory!
I know ScPup64 isn't aimed at mactel machines, but I thought you'd like to know it works great.

ScPup64+4. I report partial freezes with mouse not responsive when I leave the Pc powered on alone for sometime. I need reboot in that circumstances. ScPup 32 bit not tested.

@festus - install attached .pet & restart X. Writes free mem file that Package Manager looks for. Will run on each restart.

Thank you, ozsouth, that fixed the PPM error in scpup32 :)

I tried this same fix on bionicpup64 and it did not work, but that's a different matter.

I appreciate the help

32-bit compatibility module for both ScPup64 and LxPupSc64

#157 Post by peebee »

32-bit compatibility module for both ScPup64 and LxPupSc64....

https://sourceforge.net/projects/spup/f ... s/download

Needs testing..... I've tested 32-bit versions of Wine, Chromium, Firefox, LibreOffice etc. and seem to work. Also other browsers tried (but Netsurf was not happy).

Thanks to 666philb for some useful pointers.........

I have in console:

Code: Select all

# ldconfig
ldconfig: /usr/lib/libpulse.so.0 is not a symbolic link

ldconfig: /usr/lib/libpulse-simple.so.0 is not a symbolic link

ldconfig: /usr/lib/libpulse-mainloop-glib.so.0 is not a symbolic link

ldconfig: Changing access rights of /etc/ld.so.cache~ to 0644 failed: No such file or directory
Symlinking these libraries to the main ones solves the problem. Tested working skypeforlinux in ScPup 32 bit (kernel from ScPu64). Palemoon 64 bit shows some missing icons.

EDIT: I have unloaded the 64-compat sfs using a backup of the savefile because it makes me to lose my original puppypin and all my desktop icons at reboot.

I have solved this issue related to gdk-pixbuf-2.0 with a modded 64bit-compat sfs. Now firefox 64 bit portable starts, too. Not solved the puppypin issue when rebooting. I overwrite puppypin with a backup and restart X.

Thank you peebee! Grabbed the new ScPup 19.09+0 32 bit iso, and
have successfully updated both my pups with it, regular ScPup 32 and
the ScPupLXQt! No problems encountered so far, pupsaves upgrade
and loaded just fine. Note... to update ScPupLXQt I renamed the ydrv
from ydrv_ScPup_19.06.sfs to ydrv_Scpup_19.09.sfs, this works quite
well, at least no bugs. When you update the ydrv I'll download that too!
Thank you!

Just in time for Spring

#163 Post by davids45 »

G'day peebee,

The only 'difficulty' for me with your latest ScPup (September version) was 'no problems', so even after adding a 64-bit kernel ScPup to the regular 32-bit kernel ScPup19.09+0, which also has 'no problems', I still had time to go out and mow the front lawn (grass+weeds).
This before the Spring Equinox!

So anyway, thanks from me, and from my lawn.

Updated iso to SCPup19.09 using delta. Then manually updated frugal install. Booted and upgraded existing save folder. All working well.

Great job peebee. Thank you.

On the download page, the button for Kernel Headers links to the 64bit Compat.
Minor problem as I was still able to navigate to the correct Kernel Headers page.
Otherwise, 32bit 19.09+0 tested briefly with no problems found so far.

There appear to be some keyboard problems (with some hardware) with 19.09+7 .... apologies

If you are seeing problems like keys mapped incorrectly or country settings not being permanent please convert your 19.09+7 iso to an 19.09+7X iso with the:

ScPup32 19.09+7 to 7X delta

ScPup64 19.09+7 to 7X delta
