I do have a new 16GB USB stick on hand. And I would need to change the Boot order at the very least.
I'm suffering with some SI joint pain so I'm not sure how much sitting or standing I can tolerate.
But, lets move forward.. I'll do the best I can with this as I'd like to get it up and running. If I'm not responding quickly you can assume I'm seeing a chiropractor, etc...

Hallo! I think I goofed?! I'm at Google Earth Pro which I chose when I entered the Puppy Package Manager from the Internet tab. It was the only Google I saw listed. This was under the Repository list as puppy-xenial64.
I thought it was the standard Google Chrome.
Please Help as I think I got a little ahead of myself..
Cannot get Online, but the Internet is set up correctly other than having the correct browser I assume.
Please don't stone me!
NOT sure if should Reboot or Shutdown?
Thank YOU!
Raphael

@Nanosecond

If you installed it using Puppy Package Manager (PPM), you can uninstall it also. Go into PPM and in the Top Left Click Uninstall, you will see a list of packages you have installed. You can uninstall the packages here.

Thank You! it's uninstalled.
Should I Shut down or Reboot at this point?
Where can I find the correct version of Google Chrome for this? It's not listed anywhere as far as I can tell.
Sincerely, Raphael

Yes reboot.
That will make sure what you uninstalled is all removed.

For Google Chrome.

On the desktop is the icon for Quickpet.
Left click on it to run Quickpet.
See if Google Chrome is listed in Quickpet>Browsers.
If yes.
Left click on Google Chrome and it will be downloaded and installed.

Palemoon browser is already installed in Xenialpup.
It is a very good browser.
Left click on the desktop browse icon to run it.

There are two versions of Chrome 64 bit deb (For Debian/Ubuntu) and 64 bit rpm (For Fedora/openSUSE). Which one?

Thanks! What partition should i choose> sda1, 2, 3 or sdb1?

One of the reasons Mike thought of dropping tahrpup was it couldn't run the newer version of Google Chrome. I'd like to stick with that if possible.

By this information.
sda1, 2, 3 is your hard drive.
sdb1 should be the USB flash drive.

You do not choose a partition.
Quickpet will install stuff to the Xenialpupsave, which you should have made the first time you shutdown from the running Xenialpup CD.

When running from the Xenialpup CD.
Anything you install goes into the xenialpupsave.

If you have Xenialpup running from the Xenialpup CD.

To get Xenialpup on a USB flash drive.
Plug the drive in.
Left click on the desktop icon for the USB drive. (sdb1)
This mounts the USB drive.

Left click on the desktop icon named install.
Click on Universal Installer.
Click on USB flash drive.
Select the USB drive you want to install on. (sdb1)
The next window has several options.
All you need to select is the top one to install Puppy to sdb1.
The next few windows are information about what you are doing.
Click OK or press enter.

When the install is complete the Universal Installer will close.

Now you should have Xenialpup on the USB drive.

It didn't totally shut down it just opened the CD drawer to release the CD.

It is running off the USB...the CD was ejected and I removed it

Hallo! I think we got things pretty much in order.
Questions:
a)The personal storage is good on this laptop, But on the other laptop the personal storage icon flashes indicating it needs some help. I'd like to be able to use the same USB on both laptops if possible.
b)On tahrpup I had HotShots to take screenshots with which is similar to IrFanview. What do you suggest for Xenialpup? As soon as I get one app working I will likely post some things that may be in question.
c) I must say I am not 100% sure how I got Google Chrome to work on Xenialpup? I did use Frisbee the second time around that seemed to work better than the Simpler one.
d) there will likely be other questions and please advise or make suggestions how to best use Xenialpup.
Thank You ALL and Bless You ALL as well.
I'm Happy!
Kind regards,
Raphael

You really need to start new topics in the beginners section of the forum.
Make a new topic for each question.
You will get much better help, because each topic is about one specific issue.

The personal storage (save) made on a specific computer has settings for that computer and it's hardware.
If you use that save on another computer.
Those settings may not work with the hardware on a different computer.
Really depends on how different the 2 computers are.

Do you know how to make a save for each computer?
That way you have a save made for each specific computer.
When you boot, it will ask which save to use.
You can choose to use the save made for that computer you are booting.

Thanks,
news to me... and I will post one of those and future ones I take it in the beginners forum.
When I plug the USB in one computer the icon doesn't flash and in the other laptop it does. I'm not sure it's set correctly to begin with!? I randomly chose 512 MB as I recall Question
Time will tell.

Hi Raphael,

AFAIK, every Puppy has mtpaint builtin. If you set it as the default snapshot utility [Menu>Setup>Default Application Chooser or Menu>Setup>Default Applications] pressing the Print-Screen key will use it to take a snapshot of the entire screen and open mtpaint so you can, if you want, select only that portion of the screen you want to save: Use the Rectangle-Select tool. Pressing delete removes the excess and opens a new window; click Save on its Toolbar; then select the folder where you want to store the snapshot. [Actually, you've started mtpaint with your snapshot as its subject; you can use any of mtpaint's tools before saving or save, then make corrections before closing].

[I don't know if other screenshot utilities can use the Print-Screen Key]. Frankly, although I've used other utilities, I prefer mtpaintsnapshot because I can quickly take a screenshot, then figure out what part of the screen I want to preserve. Some time ago, 01micko developed a script which enables you to delay, if you want, before taking a snapshot in order to do something during the delay such as opening the menu to show its contents. I packaged the script as a pet primarily so that there would be a desktop file I could assign to a launcher on a panel or taskbar. When I want to take a snapshot, I don't want to first have to wade thru menus. You'll find the pet here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=991180#991180. Although it will work in every Puppy [that has mtpaint] the nice icons don't always appear. May depend on which icon set is being used.

"When I plug the USB in one computer the icon doesn't flash and in the other laptop it does. I'm not sure it's set correctly to begin with!? I randomly chose 512 MB as I recall". I doubt if size has anything to do with whether an icon flashes. The question is whether or not the USB-Stick is recognized when it's plugged in. Actually, I'm not sure I understand your problem, or if you have one.

Does a desktop drive icon appear when you plug a USB-Key in? Does such icon disappear when you remove the USB-Key?

Thank YOU!I used HotShots with Tahrpup so I assume mtpaintsnapshot is similar ..haven't set mtpaintsnapshot up to know what it does? but I will very soon.
i didn't word this correctly regarding the USB flashing. The personal storage in the taskbar > a barrel like icon is the thing that flashes..not the USB. I assume on the one computer that it flashes means it either is out of space or will be shortly and should be increased..It is partially red in color..As long as I used Tahrpup that icon was green in color and totally green. Hoping to get back with some screenshots to help if need be. Hope this has done some good.
Be back in a bit.
Best, Raphael

That is telling you the free space in the save file is getting too low.
menu>Utility>Resize Personal Storage file
Use this program to make the save file bigger.

Your USB flash drive is probably formatted fat 32.
The max size you can make the save file is going to be 4GB.
That is fat 32 max file size limit.

You can put stuff outside of the save by placing them in /mnt/home
Image files, document files, videos, stuff you download from internet, etc........
/mnt/home is the free space area of the USB drive outside of the Xenialpup install.

Check your Internet browser settings for history and cache.
If it is saving everything you do, it will fill up the save over time.

Problem! Very frustrated...
Confused
I'm not sure if this happened before or after re-sizing the Personal Storage file from 512 to 1024? But I cannot get online using Google Chrome web Browser. Last night it worked beautifully. I used Frisbee to set it up and it worked fine.
From the Menu>Internet>Google Chrome web Browser>I tick it and nothing happens. If I tick Palemoon it opens right up. If I open Frisbee 1.4.6 configuration Networks. It show Connected to FALZARANO-5 and the IP Address.
I am baffled!
PLEASE HELP!
Sincerely, Raphael
