The point is?

musher0 gets little right - even his signature - it's not Ockham from England - it's Punch from Ireland.
William of Ockham (c. 1287–1347) said it 3 centuries before John Punch
(1603–1661) stole the idea.
mfb wrote:At least three times musher0 threatened to start another Forum,
Before forum member augras decided to open the ElkArte Puppy
forum, I made members here aware that there were at least two ad hoc
solutions for regaining control of a polluted thread:
-- https://www.quicktopic.com and
-- https://www.chatzy.com
Third time, someone knowledgeable in forums and telecoms finally saw
eye to eye with me.
So they were not idle threats. Research was done, and information was
distributed on this board.
mfb wrote:(...) sometimes saying that Flash is a clueless and useless moderator because Flash doesn't speak French.
I have great respect for Flash. He is a fine technical moderator,
certainly. Sometimes he does content editing as well. Language has
nothing to do with it. But he only one person.
mfb wrote:Well, it's musher0 who's clueless, careless and virtually useless and that's easily demonstrated - last time I looked the new French Forum had reached a total of 7 (seven) members.
Quality better than quantity? Besides, "Rome was not build in a day."
How many members did this forum have after a month's operation?

In any case, your entire post is Q.E.D., "what needed to be
demonstrated": so sincere thanks to you for that, mfb.

Personal attacks such as yours would not be tolerated on a content
moderated forum, such as LinuxQuestions, UnixStackExchange,
CommentCaMarche (known in English as HowThingsWork), etc.
That is the level of quality this forum should always aim for.
It's at that level some of the time only, unfortunately.

Regards.

There seems to be some issues with the above website. Maybe 01micko is working on it.
It's working for me, and has always worked for me, even in Firefox 28. What browser/version/OS are using and what is the issue you're having? This link seems like a good reference point for what mavrothal wants (links to official puppies on the forum) although the Slacko 6.3.2 link points to a website instead.

This grand re-organization plan is a stupid idea. Wishful thinking and pipe dreaming. Why do you guys want to put an additional burden on John Murga's shoulders? It will be a lot of work for very little gain.

These are the official Puppies.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

NOOOOO !

NOT on John Murga's shoulders!!! Not here.

If you post news about official Puppies on a thread here, rest assured that
¾ down the first page, there will be a fork to another subject.

This is the kind of forum this is.

We need a separate, content-moderated forum for such announcements --
and eventually discussion.

My router seems to be blocked from the site. Any browser connected to my router can't access the site. If I use 4G on my phone I can.

i agree that reorganizing would be too much work for john
(who i would like to thank for providing this forum)
i really like this forum
and the people on it
even though sometimes you have to have a thick skin

here is a simple and easy idea

start a thread in the beginners section
that discusses the official puppies
and has links to the various projects
it could even be sticky so it stays on top

people would sidetrack things
but then everyone could post to keep things back on topic
the thread should be pretty busy
so the topic (and flagship puppies) should remain in focus

this could do a number of things

1. people (especially newbies and me)
would have an obvious place to look to see what were
the official puppies
and info on what they were all about
the links to the projects would provide depth

2. you could compliment the various work
so that the creators could have some positive feedback
from the whole community not
just scattered on the myriad of threads

3. many other good things

just to start things off
i am going to make the thread now and see how it goes
if it gets deleted and i get banned tell the world my story

Hi Flash.

Don't push me. If a little money and a couple of trusted Puppyist friends

You!

With all due respect:
Am I correct in assuming that you cannot humanly apply the rules that do
exist on this board because you are the only moderator left and you cannot
oversee everything on this board all the time?

Starting a new forum would split the membership. That's the last thing Puppy needs. Not having enough people to test is bad enough as it is.

If there can't be a reorganization, if someone doesn't like a post because they think it is in the wrong place, then they need to PM the moderator. If they post about it on the forum, that should be deleted and if they keep it up, they ought to get suspended and if they do it after that they ought to get banned.

What posts belong where should not be allowed to be used as an excuse to cause trouble.

I agree, Dancytron.

I think there is a sub-question, though, in your post: this forum is lacking
qualified assitant-moderators.

Is it that nobody is raising their hand and saying to Flash or J. Murga: "Do
you need my help as an assistant=moderator?"

I did, a couple of years ago, but I never got an answer. Never mind me,
I know a lot of people do not like me here. But the principle is still valid:

Or is it that J. Murga and Flash think that the forum is fine as it is,
including the personal attacks?

Or is it that they do not want to train assistant-moderators? For whatever
reason.

Sorry for being so frank. In any case, I am myself side-tracking here,
sorry.

But my position is still: let's jump on this occasion to showcase official
PuppyLinux releases to start a new content-mederated forum -- for the
reasons I have given above.

It may split membership for a while. It will indeed be a test: really
interested Puppyists will go to the forum that provides the most
substance, to the forum that really meets their needs.

Those users who only want to snap at other users' calves and bums will
be filtered out, and that is a good thing.

Regards.

We could just delete every thread in Puppy Projects that does not fit with the idea mavrothal proposed. Better luck next time guys, should have posted your fork in Puppy Derivatives  :D

well my attempt to make a official puppy thread didn't work out
as i found it was redundant
and actually distracted attention from the proper source of the info

mavrothal

i dont know how the software for the forum works
but maybe opening an "empty" subforum
for official woof-ce puppies would not be difficult
one could ask
no harm done

then you guys could put the official puppy threads there
and the puppy derivatives could be for puppy based projects
and the puppy projects could be for non puppy based projects
everyone could move their threads voluntarily if they feel like it

anyway its time for me to stop annoying people
and go back to my box

good luck
