I ask for the smarters and even - beg! - make someone a 384 and a 340 family nvidia driver for the new upupbb-18.05+2(K4.9.96)! The getnvidia application will slowly become completely unsuitable for this purpose. The more new puppy linux, the getnvidia app more useless. This is not so good...

Have you tried using Getnvidia after you load the devx and kernel sources sfs's for upupbb-18.05?
They are posted in the topic for UPup Bionic Beaver (upupbb) 18.05.

What happens when you try to use Getnvidia????

@bigpup: Of course, i tried(forgive, but at least 4 of his years I use it the getnvidia named software). At what a newer operating system appears, it more crappy my experiences... Please, please, please, someone let him prepare a modern getnvidia software already finally! I am capable to prepare enough good Puppy derivatíves, but I am not skilled making more serious szkripts, unfortunately. I know, a laptop-owner is not concerned in this problem, but who have a desktop computer, and would like to play with it, its that important.

The error says it can not find the directory OpenCL in /etc

So make a /etc/OpenCL

Try Getnvidia again.

Notice there are upper and lower case letters in the name of the OpenCL directory.

/etc/OpenCL
appears to reside in:
https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/i386 ... d/filelist
which is 9MB.....
and is not part of the upupbb build
and has lots of other unneeded? stuff?
/etc/OpenCL on its own is tiny so could be added....

I seem to remember having this problem with one of the Puppies.
It did not have this /etc/OpenCL directory.

I just made the directory OpenCL in /etc and the Nvidia driver compiled OK after that.
The newer Nvidia drivers want to see this /etc/OpenCL directory to put an nvidia file in it as part of compiling the driver.

All the needed OpenCL stuff is in the Nvidia driver run package and is part of the install that Getnvidia makes.

Example:
It ends up with /etc/OpenCL/venders/nvidia.icd

okay, bigpup, I make a last test yet according to your proposal - but I'm afraid that thing don't just depend on this thing...

You can try to run the built in installer in the Nvidia run package.

Example:
Have the devx and kernel sources sfs's loaded
Get a driver run package from Nvidia driver download site.
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
I used NVIDIA-Linux-x86-375.39.run
Place the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-375.39.run in /mnt/home
Exit to a prompt
Enter /mnt/home/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-375.39.run (use correct letters upper, and lower case)
Accept the terms.
Accept any added stuff it wants to install.
DO NOT USE THE NVIDIA.CONFIG to change xorg ANSWER NO
Should drop to a prompt after asking this.
Run xorgwizard to choose the nvidia driver and resolution.
Close xorgwizard.
At prompt enter xwin.
Should be at desktop using the Nvidia driver.

NOTE:
The first time you do this it may require you to setup the nouveau driver to not load and require a reboot.
Then run the installer again.

I just did it this way and that worked for me.

I posted a nvidia driver pet over in the UPup Bionic Beaver (upupbb) 18.05 (May 2018) topic.

Its for older nvidia cards, if your card is not supported by that pet then let me know which nvidia card
you have and I will attempt to make a nvidia driver pet for your card.
