I find threads like this very revealing plus usually contain useful snippets of information and clues.

Nothing in the world of software can exist in total isolation after all...

I think the title is the problem...vague and inflammatory.

Fortunately most people here don't seem to give a FF what you think .
Bet that will inflame some!
Especially your pen-names!

Please people stop the personal attacks on here.

I have been guilty of falling into that trap in the past.
If you want to have such a diatribe, please do it via private means and not on a public forum.

A grossly untrue statement - Don't mind the humour one bit and Mikeb always has had something worthwhile to impart snd it helped to relieve the fact this kind of thread has been brought so many times before. Its has been sufficiently answered.

I certainly don't give a "FireFox" ;) about what mfb thinks of me, but I do
thank him for mirroring my sentences, even out of context!!!

The fact remains that such diversions would not happen on a properly
moderated Puppy forum. French-speaking Puppyists now have one, courtesy
of forum member "augras", and it's doing well.

IMO, it's high-time English-speaking Puppyists got one too. Sure, self-
discipline is not as appealing as free-for-all. But in the end, it's a lot more
instructive -- and mutually respectful.

"Stay on topic, all of the topic, but only the topic," should be the motto for
any serious forum member.

There is a difference between sarcastic ribbing between friends and the violent personal attacks that can and do sometimes arise.

You should hear me and my family going at it sometimes. Monte Python's arguments have nothing on our sessions.
My YOUNGER sister has retired from teaching, spends most of her spare time in the Pub getting drunk, and has just been made a Magistrate. She needs the practice!!! My wife is a red-headed farmer's daughter so unusual language is no stranger to her.

mikeb is playing a psychological game of "you can't make me". The more
you tell him not to do it, the more he will, just to spite you -- or have fun.

However clever and perhaps a bit of a Linux genius he may be at times
(way back when he was indeed a reliable full time Linux guru), I don't
think that hunting down pearls of Puppy or Linux wisdom in mikeb's
current fancies is the efficient way to learn anything about Puppy or Linux.

But hey, darry19662018, if you have time to lose, do read his
meanderings. It's your learning process, not mine!!!

@mfb:
if you feel like cutting and pasting anything in the above, be my guest!!!

I'm not going to argue with you Mush - you're a good man but you have been a grumpy old begger of lately.

Agreed, but with your sisters you know each other well and know where the boundaries are - you know what was meant as a joke and what probably wasn't. On a forum like this one, you don't have that advantage and sometimes you have to try and guess what somebody meant by what they said. It's why I tend to stay away from making comments about other posters if at all possible.

Hi Darry,

Thanks, good to see you here too. I've got a newer computer now though and regret that I can't use some of the Pups I used to use, such as the 2.14 series and their spinoffs which won't boot on my machine. I've not tried Puppy 3.01 recently; must do so as I've still got the update libraries to be able to use more recent browsers.

Just echoing Darry1966's sentiments - yes it's good to see you back in the war zone, Colonel Panic,

If someone tries to push my buttons then I smile and carry one regardless.
After all none of my attackers would do it face to face.
All I have done is make one or two factual statements and avoid personal mud slinging. After all most of us are interested in potentially useful facts and discussions of techniques are we not.
The topics here seem to get more lost over personal bitching rather than coming to a technical brick wall...one reason for me keeping quiet on and off over the years.

I would rather be writing code anyday than have petty arguments.

regards to all

Well said that man. (And to those of you who seem to enjoy 'bitching' for its own sake.....all I can say is you must lead a sad life.)

I can sling mud with the best of 'em if necessary.....but I prefer to avoid doing so. It's too much like hard work, and I'd far rather spend my time on here helping folks out with 'spreading the word'....

Mikeb usually makes sense, and is always worth listening to. (No 'boot-licking'; just stating a fact. End of.)

One of the 'other' Mikes.
