Added to Bionicdog custom repo:

- Xlunch graphical app launcher, see info here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=1003532#1003532
Install with synaptic or apt-get:
Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install xlunch

- And redshift-gui-lite, see info here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=1005692#1005692

Only difference is that it's packaged as deb instead of portable.
(and it will replace "redshift-gui" (if installed) )
Install with synaptic or apt-get:
Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install redshift-gui-lite

HI,
I installed XnviewMP in BionicDog 64, installed all the dependencies listed with ldd but the program does not start.

Any ideas?

Hi josepinto, don't know what you did exactly, but... here's what I did:
From:
https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/#downloads
I downloaded and installed "Linux DEB 64-bit", with right-click > Install deb
Then xnview didn't run, needs libpulse-mainloop-glib0, so installing that made it work for me:
Code:
apt-get install libpulse-mainloop-glib0

I Fred,

I downloaded and installed the same Deb and in the same way as you.

It works now, after installing that dependency.

What I do not understand is how you found it? Using ldd?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

BionicDog is doing almost what I want it to do.

Installing evince-common.. Sad
Fred...pls help... Very Happy Very Happy

As an alternative to Evince you can try Qpdfview.
Less dependencies.

Not by using ldd, because it gave me "Not a dynamic executable" in this case.
I just ran xnview in terminal and the error came up about libpulse-mainloop-glib.so.0 not found.

PostPosted: Tue 02 Oct 2018, 15:31    Post subject: High fan speed

Hi,
I have an Asus laptop with Core I5-7200 U CPU and the fan speed is very high.

I installed TLP and followed these instructions:
Edit the file /etc/default/tlp:

sudo nano /etc/default/tlp

and look for #CPU_MAX_PERF_ON_AC=100. Uncomment the line and save the file pressing CTRL+O

sudo tlp start

The kernel module asus_wmi is loaded.

Any ideas?

Obviously there's something wrong with the (older) evince package from custom Bionicdog64 repository and updating gives error (as dcung reported), couldn't figure out what's the problem, so decided to remove it from this repo.
To replace this existing older package with the official evince Ubuntu package:
Code:
apt-get purge evince
apt-get install evince

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry to report Fred,

It doesn't work still. Maybe I have too many apps in my BionicDog64...(?)
After purging, re install failed, with 2 broken packages.

I tried it 3 times.
Once with 'apt autoremove' & 'apt --fix-broken install'.
Once with removing 'broken' packages in synaptic first.

Code:

That depends, probably you mean when using existing save storage ?
With existing savefile (or folder) used with openbox, I'm almost sure that it won't work properly, but when starting with fresh save it should be OK (if you use 64-bit, cinnamon version is 64-bit only)

Why in the hell should anyone do such? Shocked

Doesn't this mean it's only the initrd.xz and the vmlinuz which is BionicDog afterwards? Confused

How to call it then, BDinnamon? Laughing

Doesn't make any sense to me! Idea Question

Yes, this is what I mean, because so many had to be installed. Now, I have already install with fresh save folder, install everything, compile gimp and dependency, etc. But now I have missing volume control. I've try PulseAudio Volume Control, but it seems not responding

Hi, is there an equivalent to puppy's "32-bit compatibility sfs" for BionicDog64?

Thanks.

Hi westwest,

Regarding your question in the above post, actually the debiandogs do it the same way as debian or ubuntu. Fred explained how, here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=890430#890430, and in a couple other posts; one of which was because I wanted to run 32-bit Wine.

Disregarding Qui's desire for skype in the above post, the "recipe" is, open a terminal and enter the code:

dpkg --add-architecture i386
apt-get update

Do note, however, that as fred wrote, it will take a lot of time and space. It installs almost an entire operating system (sans applications).
