I do find that for Linux use, it definitely pays to refer to the Linux UVC driver & tools page, here:-

http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/

The UVC (USB Video Class) kernel driver module is the kernel's built-in driver for USB webcams. It doesn't support all webcams yet - far from it! - but you can guarantee that if a webcam is mentioned in the list on this page, it is UVC-compliant, and will literally be 'plug & play' in Puppy. (As I myself have found out, yet again, today:- http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=113199 )

If you dual-boot, all the more reason to make use of this webpage. Any camera listed will most certainly simply 'work' in both Windoze and Pup.

There's several web-sites out there which purport to test your webcam online, but this is the only one I've found which shows your camera's video feed, plus the FPS output it's running at:-
