I need an email POP client for Fatdog Subject description: Can I install Thunderbird or Eudora or anything that will work? |
|
I don't yet have libnss3.so on my machine apparently so I cannot yet install Thunderbird. I'm not sure why I don't have that lib.
I will take any POP client that allows me to download my emails from sites like google and/or yahoo or outlook. Is there anything ready to fun on Fatdog 7?
gslapt or something? or build it from scratch?

On my Fatdog libnss is present at /usr/lib64/seamonkey-2.48/libnss3.so
Did you some how deleted it?
Or uninstalled something? like say, seamonkey?
There's Seamonkey mail client inbuilt in Fatdog, did you try it?
It's located (if you haven't uninstalled it) in Menu > Internet > Seamonkey Mail.

I have that same file in the same location on my Seamonkey Subject description: I said the wrong file |
|
I meant to say that I don't have libgtk-3.so.0
I use libgtk for a lot of stuff, and on most of my Linux boxes I have it, but on my Fatdog #1, I only have up to version libgtk-2. I have the tars in some .bz2 files, I guess I should just install libgtk-3, it doesn't interfere with version 2 and most of my software don't care which version I use as long as I give a path to it.
I think my mentioning libnss3.so is on a Redhat machine I have - I need that for installing the latest I forget Chrome or Firefox.

Check your email providers website, it will probably be listed in support pages.

I set it up like you said Subject description: It looks like it's trying to download the emails |
|
But so far I don't see any in the Seamonkey client.
Looks like there are problems with folders. It doesn't really display my local folders at all.

I'm going to try changing my email directory Subject description: Create a new one |

A long-lasting problem that I've always had on my machine is "permission denied". I get it all the time.

Setting up Seamonkey's email client is a whole bunch of buttons and dialogs and it still doesn't work, what am I supposed to do? I chose the incoming and outgoing servers and a place to store the email. What more do I need?
It just doesn't work

If you don't ATM know how to allow open ports, you should disable the firewall for this exercise.

There is a bug in the Seamonkey client Subject description: When I find it trying to download emails |

I should be able to choose Stop or hit the esc key, but neither stops the download attempts.

I now realize that I should set up IMAP Subject description: POP is only a one-machine solution |

I would like multiple machine access.
I'll start with a google'd tutorial. Perhaps there is some google-level setting I need to enable.

OK, Google --GOOD! Is your main browser different than Seamonkey?
If it is, and warranted you can remain within the conversation, it's going to be easier to remove your current profile and start over.
Since I don't typically use Seamonkey, and not that you have to, I run its mail client via "seamonkey -mail" from a script.
