http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 7&start=30

is this easiest sure way to get for example tahr x 2.0 with all programs
data browser to other pc over
which at moment i use with start iso dvd thar x 2.0 and tharsave on hd (there the iso copied also some other sfs automatically)

i would like some thing like burn dvd iso?, usb

if frugal

copy puppy directory and savefile to new pc

you will need either a usb or cd to live boot and run grub4dos

if other pc already has a puppy on it, copy the menu.1st entry across

:)

And if you use SFSes, open SFS-Load on the fly, note which are being used, and copy them as well.

thank u very for fast answers

but

why not make a so called remaster?

this pet not all right?
destroys maybe the puppy??

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 7&start=30

in all internet is advertisment that puppy easy to make own custom

run grubdos doesnt sounds easy

is remaster not something which is 1 dvd iso?
is there everything ? incl all my settings of browser all my launchers?
also maybe pics
thats then all together also as a backup
or i understand remaster wrong?

then i can use it also for chrismas presents ;)

chrismas is far but i know already how long it takes to get in puppy secrets;)

also speciallly would be good to have a back up of all customized pup

because pup dont live for ever

and then start all again one already forgott is not good

did this already many times because experiments destroy the pup:((

but put a back up dvd-iso = all my pupy + all my programs and settings

inn laptop slot is much better

very looking forward

kiramm,
As always, you are over confusing the issue!
Follow ally and mikeslr's advice. It's good advice! Keep it simple. If you have any photographs or videos you wish to keep, back them all up separately onto a CD/DVD before you start messing around with another frugal install to another computer. At least that way everything important to you is safe!

Recommend shinobar's Remasterx

#7 Post by mikeslr »

Hi kiramm,

Yes. Remastering can be quick. I used shinobar's remasterx recently. You'll find it here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 345#780345. Unlike the builtin Remaster, with Remasterx you input all information into the GUI at the start and then just walk away for a while depending on the speed with which your computer will create a custom iso.

Remasterx was published before UEFI computers came on the market. So it doesn't include the necessary signature in the ISO. If needed, you can mount the custom ISO, copy its contents and the UEFI signature to a folder, then dir2iso that folder.

If I recall correctly, remasterx incorporated some SFSes I had left loaded, things like qt which will always be required for some of the applications I had installed. But I don't clearly recall since my usual practice is to convert SFSes to pets and install them if they are always going to be needed.

I don't recommend including SFSes of large applications, such as LibreOffice or Web-browsers, you may later want to upgrade. This would defeat one of the main reasons for using SFSes: the ability to test a new version while retaining the old. If you are likely to upgrade SFSes later, why include them in an ISO now?

And I don't keep data files within 'Puppy Space'. Doing so creates the potential for loosing data if something goes wrong with your SaveFile/Folder; and the content of datafolders will change over time. Of course, just like adding the UEFI signature, you can copy a datafolder into an ISO. But doing that isn't easier or faster than just copying a datafolder to a USB-Key for transfer to another computer [or transfer via network].

my laptop is older 6 years

that means i dont need care of

UEFI

?

because the tool was invented earlier

so remasterix
is the bbest possible tool?

better that which is built in in puppy?

very looking forward to do it:)

ps i also put all files to windows drawers

just some pics icons backgrounds one like to have in iso pup

i dont like upgrading that provides just problems and mostly all worse and linuks so nice
no real new better program one stays hopefully for ever with own fastest bbest selection in puppy :)))
and in widows often new programs just unecessary stuf often worse fuctions + bloattt slowwwerrrr
