Pmusic isn't installed in Xenial Pup so pclock can't be used.

However you might be able to modify a line in the pclock script to use
'aplay' rather than pmusic -B

Following up don570's post. Option 1: pmusic is a no-arch application available via xenialpup64's Puppy Package Manager.

Alternatively, Option 2: pmusic appears twice in the bash-script which is pclock; the first time merely as instructional text. The second time, in use, it is followed by the argument "-B". aplay can also use that argument. pclock already uses aplay twice.

I'll have to see what effect replacing pmusic with aplay will have.

Edit: I'm back. Thanks don570. A far as I can tell --I'm a muddler rather than a programmer-- your suggestion works. Downloaded pClock. Unpacked it using UExtract. Browsed into and edited /sbin/pclock's line 452 which read:

pschedule -s -e "pmusic -B '$ALARM'" "pClock Alarm" &

to read:

pschedule -s -e "aplay -B '$ALARM'" "pClock Alarm" &

Saved the change and rebuilt (dir2pet) the pet as pClock-0.7.2.m, which I installed into Xenialpup64-7.5. It appears to be working well. Thanks, of course, to zigbert who created pClock.

For consistency, probably line 50, which refers to pmusic, should be edited to now refer to aplay.

PClock needs changing.

It uses aplay for wavs, when it should be using ffplay for mp3's.

Mp3 files are way smaller than wav files.

You want a way to turn off the alarm.

ffplay brings up a window that you can kill.

And it can repeat the mp3 file infinitely.
