External monitor in Xenial same size as notebook.

#1 Post by Hetejas »

I have just installed Xenial today on an Acer Aspire notebook and so far, so good except that the Acer display is the same size on the external monitor as it is on the notebook.
As I think of it, it might be a Palemoon issue in that it only uses the top left 1/4 of the screen.
I haven't tried much else other than starting to install Firefox. And some of the setup utilities and I didn't try to make them full screen.
I will try more tomorrow but if anyone knows why Palemoon would not go full screen ?

Thznks

It's not just Firefox, or Palemoon. Write, paint also are shrunken.

What exact version of Xenialpup?
Xenialpup has about seven different versions.
32 bit or 64 bit version?

What size is the external monitor?
What resolution is the laptop monitor?
What is the graphics hardware?
AMD?
Intel?
Nvidia?
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

It will be if the external monitor is only set to mirror the internal display.

32 bit and whatever version I would get today, 7.5 I think.
Monitor is 21"
Resolution I am not sure. Xrandr reports running at 1024x600 60.0+
Notebook us an Acer Aspire one zg5
Intel graphics media accelerator 950, I guess from the sales blurb

And how to turn off mirroring external display ?
Using Chrome, I can stretch the window but it reverts when restarting.
