Two 32bit Slacko 6.3.0 CD's will not start on Biostar P4M80-M4, locking up after "Booting the kernel" shows on the screen. Button reset is required. Both boot on other boxes. DVD drive swapped out, no change. Where can I start diagnosis? Is there an error log file somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Not a lot of info there. First make sure some other ISO will boot it, like a Clonezilla or Gparted ISO.

Since it's a P4 architecture, you might try one of the older puppies like 5.28

Is it actually locking up or is it going to a black screen with nothing on it?

What is the graphics hardware?

Gparted, Supergrub and others all boot normally. I'll try an earlier version on your suggestion.

After reporting "Booting the kernel" only a button reset has any effect, i.e. CTL-ALT-DEL fails a restart. I will report the graphics hardware in my next post after I reconnect everything.
