I am running tahr605 on a dell vostro 1320, 2.2ghz, 2gb ram. I need a program to print a jpeg scan of a black and white etching on a laser printer. I would like to be able to alter the blackness of the image if possible and maybe the image size and position on the paper. It would also be useful to print colour prints of photos.
Can anyone recommend a suitable program.

One question how do I reduce the size of the printed image to be say half A4 and in the centre of the A4 sheet. I have never understood this.

You need an app that is able to print at a specified physical size, like in cm.

If you reduce the resolution of the image, you will get a lower quality printout.

I would like to keep resolution maximum but reduce printed size.
