captured screen distortion. | Hello melon 688.
No such problem here, I just re-tested. It may depend on the type of image or app
being captured. E.g., from experience, I know that trying to do a screen capture of
any DOSBox window will produce a distorted image.
Were you trying to do a still image of a game? Or of a movie while it is playing?
For the latter, some movie apps have a dedicated command; one should not use
an utility such as Screeny for that purpose. (Or pause the movie first.)
In any case, the Screeny utility being the creation of Mick Amadio, the proper place
to complain about it and / or to report your bug is in its own thread at

@melon688: This has been fixed in the newest netpbm. I think musher0 posted (en Français ) how to get it here:

My comments are:
(1) I trust, this time, Flash will read between the lines.
(2) I trust Forum members know the halo is well placed.
(3) I don’t care if sum her0 sees a threat or a challenge.

Hi melon688.
As I mentioned above, I do not have the problem with Screeny on this machine.
Please report it to 01micko on his Screeny thread. I have provided the URL for it
above.
Alternatively, to get a screenshot, you can use SFR's Take-a-Shot or use the
following command from console: Code: | sleep 5s;mtpaint -s | "sleep 5s" gives you the time to iconify the console before the snapshot is taken.
After the image has appeared in the mtpaint window, you save in the format you like.
Results of taking a snapshot with mtpaint -s and with screeny are attached.
IHTH.

He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign [Flash].
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. [I know musher0 so very well, whereas musher0 does not even begin to know me].
Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt. [If provoked with any hostile reply, then so be it].
The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. [If he wants to fight > I strongly advise him, for the obvious reason, to purchase numerous large tins of peppermint essence boot polish].

Hi Sailor E.
I noticed you were NOT talking through your hat
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=943852&sort=lastpost&search_id=1820424862#943852
when you suggested that melon688 download and install the newer version of netpbm.
@melon 688
You have reported this bug before in the main xenialPup-7.5 thread:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=920921&sort=lastpost#920921
Give me a few minutes, guys, and I'll come up with an update of the reduced set
of netpbm utils provided by default through the woof-CE process and already in
xenialPup. This may be the simpler solution.
TWYL.

Hello everyone.
Please find attached an update of the reduced set of netpbm utilities provided in
xenialPup-7.* at the woof-CE level by the woof-CE devs. The executables provided
were extracted from the complete "advanced" netpbm package dated 171205. (If
you want the whole advanced package, Sailor E. has already mentioned the URL
for it a couple of posts above.)
(This reduced netpbm package weighs +/- 300 Kb whereas the complete advanced
package with docs weighs +/- 1.9 Mb.)
As well, this update should solve the Screeny distortion problem that melon688
and others have been experiencing, as Sailor E. has mentioned here and on the
Screeny thread.
This reduced package works fine at this end, but confirmation feedback will be
appreciated. TIA.
I had to split the pet archive in two because of forum limitations as to upload size.
I am providing it on the forum because it is simpler this way.
To re-assemble the split files, open a console and issue the following command in
the download directory: Code: | cat xa?-netpbm*.pet > netpbm-reduced-171205_xenialPup706.pet | Then install the reconstituted pet archive with petget or by double-clicking on it, as usual.
Enjoy!

HI mikesLr (and all).
Deducting from your sub-title: (I hope this is what you wanted to talk about)
As soon as a patched 4.1 kernel is available for this xenialPup, I'll direct the users to it
with an explanation on how to make the change.
BFN.

dpup on dv6500 with nvidia problems |
|
I am getting help in the hardware/graphics forum.
The dv6500 that won't display usably with any linux with kernel 3 or 4 that I tried works with nouveau.modeset=0, somewhat.
Wrong resolution (1024x768 instead of 1280x800, and no framebuffer video).
Lucid puppy with kernel 3.0.25 is the exception - proper resolution, and framebuffer. It uses nv video driver (as does lucid with kernel 2.6.33).
The suggested solution to make Tahr Dpup and Xenial work fully is to compile the module using nvidia source code, a getnvidia script, kernel source code and devx for each distribution. It failed - unable to download the source code from nvidia. I am getting expert advice in a hardware/graphics forum.
Since I have already downloaded the required files, I will try instead to compile my own kernels 3 for Dpup and Tahr. Dpup 7.0 uses 3.14.79 and Tahr uses 3.14.56. Would a 3.14.79 kernel also work in Tahr without having to change all the modules?
If not, I can at least reuse the kernel config file.
Might a kernel 3 also work in Xenial? Lucid can use 2.6 or 3.X.
/etc/modules/DOTconfig* is where most puppies keep the .config for kernel compiling. Dpup 7 has it in /boot.
