Is Firefox ESR to be added in Ubuntu repositories?

#1 Post by labbe5 »

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubunt ... 05189.html

Many links reporting a need for Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) in Ubuntu repositories.

Advantages :
support for legacy addons
high-security risks fixes
stable environment

If you use an Ubuntu derivatives, such as Xenialdog, you can install FirefoxESR tar.bz2 from here : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/o ... tions/all/
A PPA is available for FirefoxESR : https://launchpad.net/~jonathonf/+archi ... irefox-esr

Interestingly, the Debian/Devuan repos seem to only have 45.9 ESR, and neither the newest or 52 ESR, which I guess makes sense, to avoid needing to compile the newer ones without gtk3 and pulseaudio. At least, using PPM in the puppy builds... unless I searched for the wrong keyword.
