Developers of Puppy or Dog may have an interest in xlunch, as a light graphical app launcher :
One time launcher mode - this is default mode. There is no need to specify any commandline parameter for this mode. In this mode, xlunch opens as a fullscreen application, and offers screen with icons to select application to run.
Desktop mode - The desktop mode is intended only for users without other desktop.
xlunch
Hi labbe5.
Thanks. It's ok. but I'm not crazy about it.
For one thing it seems to only have a full-screen mode. (Plz see attached.)
Command line parms used:If you don't use any parms, you get a grey background. A totally grey
screen is ugly, IMO. The docs say you can make it partial screen if you
have a two monitors set-up? Strange approach. Did I read that correctly?
Second: It says that it can replace dmenu, but dmenu tries to guess the
name of the executable as you type, and xlunch does not. Hm.
Third: I managed to create a pet of it, distributing icons and fonts in
/usr/share, etc. but the result wasn't the same as the OOTB version.
Puppy: DPupStretch-7. Also attached.
Maybe someone else will have better luck compiling it and testing it on
another Pup? Anyway, at this point I'm stumped, I'm not seeing if I'm
doing anything wrong, and if so, what I'm doing wrong.
I'm not saying xlunch bad, it's certainly a good idea, a good concept. Also
the dev, if I'm not mistaken, is the same Tomas who developed the Slax
distro, so he has to know his Linux.
I'm left with the feeling that this launcher has lots of potential but that it
was published pre-maturely. It's not as mature as it should and could be.
BFN.

it's still full screen, except for the icewm tray-bar (bottom) and one conky

click on one of the icons or type the name of an executable + Enter.
