big remasters on old machines

if you dont have enough ram some of the large puplets or remasters will fail to run. sync error, kernel panic whatever.

solution:
boot the machine with a regular puppy, run your gparted. get some swap space allocated. run the universal installer. switch your regular puppy out for the large remaster before it starts copying from the cd.


i tried this when my 301 remaster was 290megs, my test machine had 192 megs of ram and no swap. it worked like a charm. i dont see why this wouldnt work for other puplets or remasters.

i know its not very techinical but it will get your oversized remaster onto an older machine. i like using a linuxish hard drive install with a nice swap on old machines.
