cannot install gthumb in tharpup64- 6.0.6, help

nice improvement from 6.0.5,.. I can not seem to install gthumb, which was installed fine in 6.0.5. In PPM, it is listed and after I install, cannot find .desktop in /usr/share/applications and does run from console with "gthumb" etc...
any fix for this?, of course I updated the packages all before installing.
