I've tried to get Krita working in X-Tahr, I downloaded near 200 meg of files for it and still it didn't work, KDE is a pain as there are too many dependencies required.

There has to be something else that would suffice.

On Tahr 6.0.5I have good results using PhotoFiltre Studio X running with WINE. Install WINE then download studio x click on the exe to install or use the portable version. I drag a shortcut to the desktop added a nice icon. PhotoFiltre 7 is a freeware version with almost all the features of X that works also very well.

Drawing or editing photo are very different. I don't draw. Mypaint is more for tablets. Try Tuxpaint.. Krita is to be used when your Puppy is a KDE one. No interest in running it in a standard Puppy Linux OS.
Most 'painting' apps are for children. But tuxpaint could fit adults needs;
