There is a smartlink modem driver pupget in Puppy 2+. Just run the package manager and choose pupget. The driver will be downloaded and installed.

Puppy 2.10beta has it built-in, ditto the Lucent driver.

Hello,

I obeyed the tips. Unfortunately nothing functioned. Also Puppy Linux 2,10 not. The following messages appeared:

PupGet: dependency check OKAY
It seems that all the dependencies required for this package are installed

sh-3.1# modprobe slamr
FATAL: Error inserting slamr (/lib/modules/2.6.16.7/misc/slamr.ko): Invalid module format
sh-3.1#

KANOTIX recognizes the modem also as Smartlink and as Interupt: acpi, Intel 82801DB, ICH4 modem. Isn't this chip assisted for Puppy Linux? I am grateful for each assistance .

Hello Barry,

the Button for LT and SL modem is present in 2.10, but my modem is not recognized. The Windows XP Device Manager announces my modem under COM3. Do I have to furnish the haven manually in Puppy Linux for the modem? If, as it functions? Excuse, but I am helpless.

Greetings Puppyfan

PuppyFan,
Maybe the previous PupGet modem package installation is causing a problem?
Try booting 2.10 totally in ram, by the boot parameter:

puppy pfix=ram

then run the modem wizard.

Hi Barry,

I started Puppy Linux of CD and into the RAM. It is always the same effect. I found out the fact that I must install first the ALSA Soundcard (although functions to men sound), so that my SL-modem is recognized. I do not get an Internet connection, neither with CHAP, PAP or CHAT. There is also a new problem with 2.10. I cannot install Puppy Linux on a USB stick. The installation is terminated correctly, the CD is ejected. The computer makes none reboot, but stops. With boats of the USB stick receive I the following message: sda: sda1, sd 0:0: 0: 0: Attached scsi disk sda. If I then enter /dev/sda1 follow the message: Permission denied. Do you have perhaps a Answer to my two problems?

Many Greetings

Booting from usb has a bug in 2.10. Another thread discusses this, and there's
a fix. It was also announced in my News Blog a couple of days ago.
