Oh, but that seemed to be related to Slacko, so I thought you suggested that because I had mistakenly said I was using Slacko. I actually just looked at PPM here in Tahrpup as there's no Quickpet in here... didn't find that file you mentioned. Anyway, I'm about to try Tahr 32-bit PAE and non-PAE.

Uh, you have something called "updates" and "fixes".. yes?

Running these should fix Tahr's initial *broken* Quickpet.

Then again, the Internet wouldn't be where it is today if everybody were trying to communicate with different systems.

Okay very nice... I did find a "bugfix" item in the menu and it did fix Quickpet! Nice to have that now.

So I loaded:

Code: Select all

32bit_compatibility_libs_tahr64.sfs
And no, I didn't do anything with Wicd. I also tried the 32-bit versions of Tahr but they didn't work with the iPhone either.

So what's next, Master?

There were a few things I forgot to mention that I'll address tomorrow. I was tired.

Tell me though, are those results from 32 or 64?

PS -- Don't feel like you have to quote every comment.

Really, it's not needed.

Hey my friend... just want to let you know that I'm discontinuing work on this issue -- this new laptop of mine needs to go back to Dell. It's got a problem with screen flickering that I've been able to confirm using the BIOS video adjustment screen.

Thanks again for all your sagely advice :o

That's a breath of fresh air. :D

I have an old Dell laptop back from when they understood the term "craftsmanship."

Yeah, the new ones I think are junk. I know if it were me, and I'm due, it's gonna be another player.

Well, when you're ready again, it'll still involve the same set of utilities and/or possibly bluetooth.

Either way, the tools are there for Iphone, though Apple recodes kinda often.

Be good Harris mate, but not  *too* good.

32-bit Compatibility on 64-bit Tahrpup

#28 Post by mikeslr »

Hi,

Can't add much to this conversation except:

Loading Tahrpup's 32b-bit compatibility SFS won't do anything until you:

(1) Open a terminal;
(2) type ldconfig ### Cut and paste this; I can't tell/remember if the first letter is a capital i (as in the letter before j), a small l (as in the letter before m) or the numeral 1. I think it's a small l -- the letter before m.
3) Restart X -- but may require a reboot. Remember to Save before/during reboot.
4) Test by trying to run a 32-bit app you know works. If that doesn't open, repeat above steps.

After entering ldconfig and pressing return there should be several seconds of noting apparently happening before your terminal prompt reappears. If not, it didn't take. Try it again, or SAVE and try it again.

Tahrpup64's Compatibility SFS can also be used under Xenialpup64 under the same, above described, conditions and the installation of the pet from here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 435#936435 --skip to last paragraph of that post.
