PostPosted: Wed 14 Sep 2016, 07:42    Post subject:  No network after making savefile

I'm using a Core 2duo E6750 with no harddrive, and a Realtek R8169 Gigabit ethernet controller.
Wen I start Puppy from the CD the first time, all is fine, but after I make a savefile on USB stick with heavy encryption, and reboot from the CD plus the savefile, there is no internet connection any more.
SNS shows the previous connection created, but when I click "connect now", it sais "no interfaces are active".
When I try Network Wizzard, it sais there is no driver loaded. When I try to do it manually, no driver can be loaded, even with auto-probe.
I have exactly the same problem all puppies I tried: Tahrpup 6.0.5, Tahrpup64 6.0.5, and Slacko 6.3 32b
In Hardware Information, the Realtek shows on the list

There's a driver loaded during a live boot that isn't under your save file.

Clk the PCI tab, then copy'n paste the info like this:
Code:
Manufacturer=Broadcom Corp
Product=BCM20702A0
SerialNumber=5CF3706DEE17
VendorID=0a5c  ProductID=21e8  KERNEL-DRIVER(builtin)=(none)

I cannot copy-paste, because that pc doesn't have internet, but I'll type it here:
Description: Ethernet Controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co, ltd, RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller Vendor: 10ec Device: 8168

When I try to load that driver from the list, it sais: Loading r8169 failed with following message:
modprobe: error: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:507
kmod_lookup_alias_from_builtin°file() could not open builtin file '/lib/modules/3.14.54/modules.builtin.bin'
modprobe: fatal: module r8169 not found

Like I said, the correct driver's loaded during a live boot.

Look, boot live again, then run: lsmod > ~/lsmod.txt and copy'n paste from this file in /root..

Let's see who's loaded..

==

Update: THAT driver may have to be blacklisted.

Follow with the live boot..

Run PupScan while under that live boot and take note of the driver being used..

Blacklisting the driver that is loaded in the live boot (without savefile) and that is actually working? does that make sense?

Know how to type into a terminal?

Go back a few posts and give me the "lsmod" output from /root/lsmod.txt.
