Why not a thread of it's own instead of destroying the Slacko-700 rc3

using htpdate.

Hello all.

This now happy grouch

solved slacko-700's sluggishness and ROX-Filer
responsiveness issues that I have reported earlier by changing the ex-
factory 4.4 kernel with a kernel 3.16 specially designed for the slackoPup.

I also tested kernel-4.1.11, but to no avail. It presented me a black screen
just before loading X.

Anyone with a ~ 10 year-old computer can do the same, i.e. replace the
ex-factory kernel with kernel-3.16. The increase in speed and
performance is staggering. It's easy to do as well. If you need help
with this operation, pls leave a note below or send me a PM?

Hi musher0 - you are very generous, warmhearted and goodlooking - and it's christmas - so what are the chances of you making available an iso including the fast kernel already installed (please)?

I haven't got to grips with kernel surgery yet so if you could possibly offer a ready-made solution that would be fantastic.

May I suggest that you use the utility 01micko has presented there.
Some recent Pups have it ex-factory, IIRC.

Forums are a bazaar of topics by their very nature. But they can be a
wonderful and fun source of information.

I'm sorry to say that the search engines are of little help when it comes
to (re)discovering the gems that are in them.

For the record, I've been busy with slacko-700 rc3, starting from
here, and the following posts.

greengeek, you still might have a gift for the the New Year

(keep your
fingers crossed!), but I'll be announcing it there.

The reason is simple: this thread is about a BETA 2 version and the other
one is offering an rc3 (release candidate 3) version. As you may already
know, according to developer usage of these expressions, "rc" versions
are more advanced and polished than "beta" versions.

Slacko 700 has never come to an official release. But there have been made good build anyway.
Latest 32bit buid I know of is from norgo on another thread:

If you want an earlier slacko, try slacko 6.3.2, but it is getting older.

I don't know about eeepc, but 32bit dpupstretch (RC4 or RC5) from radky runs great on ALL my machines.
