Subject description: Works in Lupu 5.2.8.6, Wary 5.5 and Puppies 4 and 6.

Lenovo Thinkpad Z61p (late 2006). iwl3945 Intel Pro wlan0 driver does not work with Lupu 5.2.5.
Detects the signal but does not connect. Does not work with IP address set manually either.

Works fine with Tahr 6.0.5, Slacko 6.3, Lupu 5.2.8.7, Pulp01 (Puppy 4.1.2). Did not test Puppy 4.3.1.
Lupu 5.2.5 works with older orinoco-based non-cardbus wifi cards (I think you need to uncomment
a line in one file first). 5.2.8.5 and other Puppy 5's and 6's do not. Puppy 4's do. Lupu 5.2.5
also works with MN520 USB wifi card that does not work with Tahr 6.0.5.

The hda-intel sound on this laptop does not work with Wary 5.5, but works
with Lupu 5.2.5 and 5.2.8.7 and Tahr 6.0.5 and Pulp01 and Slacko 6.3.

Nice to have so many choices.

PostPosted: Tue 17 May 2016, 22:09    Post subject: Z61P sound NOT working in Pulp01

Pulp01 (4.1.2)
Sound installs and appears to play but silence and Can't open audio device
/dev/dsp: No such file or directory. Tested with mplayer and an mp3 file.

Puppy 4.3.1 kernel 2.6.2.1 retro works with wifi and sound.
Without fbcon and vga=794, terminal is very low resolution (320x?).
/dev/sda1 (fat32) is not detected. X is very slow to load (Xorg).
With vga=794 it looks good but appears to be 1920 not 1280 resolution.
xorgwizard exits if you choose Xvesa.

Works just fine with Tahr and Slacko and Lupu 5.2.8. Very fast.
cpu test under 10.

Not recommended to use with Pulp (4.1.2) or Wary 5.5 (no sound),
or with Lupu 5.2.5 unless you have older non-cardbus or USB wifi cards
to replace the onboard card.
