You need to identify your specific Puppy version. There may be a Broadcom wifi driver for it.

Is there a reason why you are using an old-old Puppy like 4.3.1?

You should try a newer version of Puppy.
Try one of the 32bit ones from here:
http://puppylinux.com/
Tahrpup 6.0.5 should work OK.

Puppy 4.3.1 is probably too old and does not have the needed firmware.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Make sure you installed the card correctly.
No bent pins or contacts.

This may not have anything, but who knows.
A lot of laptops have an off/on switch for internal WIFI.
Usually some key on the keyboard.
If you find one, see if that makes any difference.

If it is a broadcom wireless card then 4.31 will have trouble with it. In fact forum member JRB had to make a special version of 4.31 to accommodate that chipset. According to what I have garner on the internet that machine is Pentium 4 so hopefully it will work with Tahr.

Otherwise if you have to use 4.31 use this one:
