How to update Adobe Flash Player?

#1 Post by don922 »

Puppy 528.7

I am struggling to update the Adobe Flash Player. I am currently running version 10,3,183,5. I want to upgrade to version 11.2.202.616.

I have tried to do this upgrade with the program GetFlash which is included in Puppy 528.7. This "program" tells me that it can't find the internet to "please check your internet connection." There is nothing wrong with the internet connection.

Next I downloaded version 11.2.202.616 and extracted it and tried to put the various components in the proper place in /usr but that did not change the version from 10,3,183,5 to 11.2.202.616. Although, what is in the Puppy is probably 11.2.202.616.

At this point how do I upgrade Adobe Flash on my computer? I want the Adobe Flash to tell me it is using version 11.2.202.616.

Is there any way to make GetFlash to work properly?

Hi don922,

A newer version of GetFlash is here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=74491

If you stick to the 10.3 branch (10.3.183.90 link is in the bottom of the first post) it won't nag you to upgrade ever though.

You don't say in your post which browser you're using but in Firefox you can find more information about the plugins it's using by typing about:plugins in the address bar.

Thank you for the help. Have upgraded to and I am now using Flash Player version 11.2.202.616.

I did the following to get this result:

1. Used Menu>Setup>Remove builtin packages to get rid of the nonworking builtin GetFlash package.

2. In the PPM deleted Flash Player version 10.3.183.5.

3. Downloaded and installed GetFlash-1.5-6 pet.

4. Used GetFlash to download and install Flash Player version 11.2.202.616.

Again, Thank you for your help.
