When I boot from precise 5.7.1 on my old p-iv with intel onboard 845 graphics and realtek 8139 ethernet card which has driver built in kernel, will not show eth0. it does not load any hardware specifcs module at all.
I have tried all wizards nework wizard, alsa wizard etc. but still my sound card webcam and internet will not work.
I tried to load module manually using insmos and modprobe but it gives module not found error.
As every thing was working fine untill day before yesterday, before I modified some partitions and deleted all save files, I am puzzled.
As 8139too is built in kernel, I tried to search it using pfind, I found that although precise puppy 5.7.1 uses kernel 3.9.1 all most all hardware specific modules are listed in /lib/modules/3.2.48 directory and modprobe -l shows only modules listed in initrd under 3.9.1
So please tell me how to load hardware modules in Precise puppy 5.7.1 when they are listed in other directory than uname
How to load modules in precise 5.7.1?
Precise has NO folder called /lib/modules/3.2.48, so I don't know how you are finding it.
Run Gparted and see what it says about the health of your hard drive. Or maybe reformat the drive and install again. But you said that booting off the CD with "puppy pfix=ram" did the same thing. Which makes no sense.
I suspect that you are having some type of hardware failure. Do you have another computer that you can try?

In the other thread you started on this topic, you said Puppy would not boot at all.
