This tip works in Firefox and Chrome-latest versions. Feel free to try it in other browser versions and report back.
While holding down the Ctrl key use the wheel button on your mouse to increase/decrease display size.
This can also be accomplished by the Ctrl +/Ctrl - commands.
Enjoy!!

PS - I hope I don't get heck for posting this here rather than in the newbie section.

Works in IE 11.
(Don't give me grief -- I never use IE so I need an excuse like this just to fire it up once every other year...)

For anyone who has trouble seeing, firefox has a much better zoom capabilities than chrome, sea monkey and internet explorer. This is because it gives you the ability to zoom by text only and has much better control in text zoom than chrome. Firefox also has an ap called no-squint that gives you even more control. For details about firefoxes zoom capabilities see:

In FireFox I install the Zoom Page extension (by DW-dev) and add that to the menu-bar. Similar to Firefox's own zoom page but with the added benefit that it can be set so when you right click the percentage number between the + and - options it toggles between zooming images or not.

I use it all the time across different web pages and it remembers each web pages settings.

I use a 32" TV as a monitor and have it set to quite a low resolution (1366x768) and combined with tweaking Puppy's Global Font Size (in Tahr that's under Menu, Desktop, JWM Desk Manager, Screen Font, Size tab and bottom right corner Choose Global Font Size (you have to restart X after making a change)) you can set the visuals to be quite comfortable even for squinters like me with antique eyes.
