Hi gyro.....that's a difference between Slackware 14.2 and Slackware Current....appeared very shortly after 14.2 was released on Fri Jul 22 20:51:23 UTC 2016 and has been updated a number of times since....

If you let me know which building blocks you need I can make a single sfs or a set of .pets and upload them for you

Have a look in /root/.packages/builtin_files to see the contents of each component and in /root/.packages/DISTRO_PKGS_SPECS to see how they were constructed....

I'd imagine you'd probably need:
mesa, xorg_base_new and xserver_xorg

but anything else?? eudev maybe??

17.06.25T updated to 17.07.10T then 17.07.21T on my core 2 duo laptop, 5 posts up. No issues seen. The real fun starts in a couple of days. I'm retiring the last 3 of my much loved Pentium M laptops. Replacements are on the truck. All Fujitsu S series, one a pretty a straightforward 14" i5, one a convertible 13" core 2 duo, and one a very light 13" i5 with a separate circular scrollpad that I know in advance will cost me some hairs

Apply the delta to 17.07.1T to create the iso......click on the delta in the same directory as 17.07.1T (or use xdelta in the utility menu).....

22 to 23 upgrade on my workhorse Fujitsu S6520 core 2 duo laptop referenced above went without issue. All boots, daily use, suspends perfect.

All my Pentium Ms have retired, slowly vetting 3 new to me Fujitsu laptops on LxPupSc 17.07.22/23. All have smallish but new or newish ssds, Samsung 830s or Intel X25-ms. The inxi outputs for all three are attached below and all timing related comments to follow checked in pristine frugal installs and updated savefile frugal installs. Remarks on timing also apply to LxPupXenial and the venerable X-slacko 4.2 on these machines. Is this Fujitsu specific? Seems like it should have shown up on somebodys i5 if not???

The first, a T5010 core 2 duo convertible(wacom tablet drivers) got a brief test as my wifes T60 finally died totally and she grabbed the T5010 and its win10 pro

install. The LxPupSc run from CD and USB just worked. Video, sound, wireless, suspend from button and lid... I never got to the wacom part.

The second, a S761 2nd generation i5 based 13.3" laptop needed a couple of tweaks for a clean boot and suspend. Once booted all is swell, sound, video, touchpad and buttons and scrolling are just fine without its little circular scrollpad. It seems though its sound and wireless cards aren't settled by the time X starts and retrovol isn't displayed in the panel and PWF or Frisbee connections fail on boot. flsynclient also isn't set to stored parameters. SNS must do a hard looped wait for the wireless card as it works on boot and retrovol and the rest are ok in that install also. All works correctly on a wmrestart for all wireless connection managers. The following lines added to /etc/rc.d/rc.local patches this behavior, sets the laptop to full brightness (Without those lines it comes up dim), and pulls the save2flash from the desktop as I have it instead of run in the main menu

One or 2 seconds not enough, 4 is ok there. Not nice but maybe diagnostic.

The third is a Fujitsu S752, a third generation i5 14" laptop.
The timing issues as above apply to it as well. 5 seconds settle is enough for a clean boot. Brightness comes up ok, no patch lines needed for that. The only other thing I've noticed is that the 'Booting kernel' step of the boot takes a lot longer than on the other slower machines (12+ seconds vs 3 or 4 seconds) and that there are a LOT more warns in messages. OS and kernel independent. Still chewing on that. Once up it runs great and all the benchmarks fall where they should

Both the i5s suspend cleanly from lid or button but are squirrely on wakeup. A desktop switch notification comes up til a mouse button is clicked, flsynclient settings are not set, and touchpad buttons are not correctly mapped. Enabling the wmrestart line in the # process at recovery from suspend section of /etc/acpi/actions/suspend.sh isn't the most pleasing solution but is most universal thing I've tried. It works in all pups tried on these laptops (LxPupSc, LxPupXenial, X-slacko 4.2) and in all the kernels I tried, here (4.1.31, 4.9.13, 4.12.0, 4.12.2).

About a week on the three now with the patches above and all are running well. Slimjet 14.0.16.0 on SFS as the browser, Sylpheed for mail, LibreOffice on SFS if needed.
Now I have to decide who gets what...

Thanks for the LxPups and sorry if this should have been in hardware, I went back and forth over that. I can delete and repost if...

Delta downloaded and applied, md5sum correct. 23T frugal install on the 2nd gen i5 Fujitsu S761 referenced above updated to 24T.
No problems seen. I think this machine stays with me! I am running a slightly less obtrusive 'process on recovery' section in /etc/acpi/actions/suspend.sh using the following lines:

openbox --restart
sleep 4
flsynclient -s

Restarting openbox kills the spurious desktop notification and still leaves other processes/programs running. Buttons & touchpad ok with that after a suspend. WM specific at this point!
I haven't changed the delay I put in rc.local for boot. I'll double check the minimum on that later but don't really expect any change. Happy normal boot, happy run for now.

My attempts were blocked by a configure error : C++ preprocessor /lib/cpp fails sanity check .

I have compiled the Nvidia driver successfully (needed both devx and kernel-sources loaded)....

What were you trying to compile??

You may also need some kernel headers loaded - try:
http://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/ ... -x86-1.txz or later version (changes quite frequently)...

I wanted to compile audacity 2.1.3 with ffmpeg support - and dependencies ...
Thanks for reply peebee ! Yeah , there were some headers missing , as I understood ... I shall try again with adding those headers from the link you mentioned .

Edit : Installing those kernel headers helped . Look here .
