Hi David S.

I am confused as to why you would use an LxPup if you don't want an LXDE desktop - ScPup is the exact same build but with LXDE removed...... I don't know why the popup occurs - probably some startup item which is still trying to start in the JWM environment erroneously..... but as the ability to switch to JWM is just provided as a useful adjunct to have in some error situations it won't be a priority to fix....

Regarding deltas - the official current delta is the one posted on the forum with the md5 for the .iso - the next delta will also be seen on Sourceforge and will gradually emerge in a number of iterations until I decide to "announce" it and "fix" the md5.

Cheers
peebee

G'day peebee,

Thanks for clearing up my confusions with LXPupSc and the delta numbering.

I'll just stick with only ScPup from now on as it gives me no problems, not even minor ones.

PostPosted: Sun 01 Sep 2019, 09:42    Post subject: New base - 19.09+0

LxPupSc-19.09+0-uefi-T-k64 is a 32-bit woof-ce 'testing' branch build with a 64-bit kernel (therefore only compatible with 64-bit capable processors)

LxPupSc-19.09+0-uefi-T-k64.iso {devx} - (devx does not include kernel sources or headers) {kernel 5.2.11-lxpup64 sources}

iso md5 = fc3de2db57d5dd0d259efef9c56a756e

Interim delta updates and newer kernels may be available.

Delta from 19.06T is available

- kernel 5.2.11 64-bit built with GCC-9.2.0
(alternative 32-bit kernels 3.16.x 4.4.x 4.9.x & 4.14.x also available - all need firmware in the fdrv)
- Made from Slackware-Current as of Fri Aug 30 18:50:32 UTC 2019
- BUILD_FROM_WOOF='testing;09069efa6;2019-09-01 07:30:44 +1000'
- web browser in adrv is light-48.0
- firmware is in fdrv
- alternative fall-back xorg is in ydrv (no need to install unless needed)

**N.B. the 64-bit kernel means that any kernel drivers have to be built in a true 64-bit system - LxPupSc64 with it's own devx is suggested but use the kernel sources above

Woof-CE build repository is: http://smokey01.com/peebee/slackocurrent/

Chromium, Firefox, Palemoon and Seamonkey are in the repository and installable via Internet -> Get Web Browser

The versions of the browsers as of 01-sep-2019 with their md5sums are:
chromium_76.0.3809.87+pepper_32.0.0.238 RUNS-AS-SPOT :8c9fc3fc7cbce67acb484431b946768a
firefox-68.0.2 :770b74796a78f0a693452c1ca1dde1b6
palemoon-28.7.0 :7787ec00f6d1c6960f0354f5c601a6c6
seamonkey-2.49.4 :d89486754ca78c70c162aef2d93b3f2e
iron, slimjet, vivaldi and min are also available

@peebee I tested your build

simple-mtpfs not included. Much better if was included by default

I load libreoffice sfs. The file associations for word, spreadsheet, and presentation files does not work because update-desktop-database was missing.

simple-mtpfs - where from? - not provided by Slackware.....

File associations - right click - Open With... - select LO as default app

@peebee I thought you include some extra apps from puppy forum. Unfortunately simple-mtpfs dont exists yet from slackware repo.

Much better if file associations worked automatically rather than setting the file associations manually when loading sfs and installing packages. Installing update-desktop-database command will do the trick since sfs-load and ppm recently can process xdg file associations

Very very few - the preference is for apps to be available from the Slackware repos (including Ponce) or from the Puppy Ibiblio repos - noarch and common32.... simple-mtpfs is not available from any of these.... where is it on forum??

@peebee take a look at pupmtp thread on this forum. The simple-mtpfs package was attached there both 32-bit and 64-bit.

I am not testing LxPupSc at the moment, but further to the above I note that in ScPup32 (the core of which I presume is similar) there is Menu>Filesystem>PupMTP which throws an error message about simple-mtpfs being missing.

Interestingly, BionicPup32 and XenialPup64 both have Menu>Filesystem>Connect Your Android Phone which is a different implementation of MTP as I understand it.

@OscarTalks other pups use go-mtpfs. However it was bloated unlike simple-mtpfs which was lightweight. simple-mtpfs can mount multiple devices.
