Ahh - that's probably because LxPupSc has a 64-bit kernel.....hmmm not sure what to do about that - may just have to direct to the Flashplayer download page rather than ppm and getflash.....TLM wrote:Only thing I see is that GetFlash 1.71 fetches the 64 bit version of flashplayer and fails to install it. Need the 32 bit anyway.

Kernel Release: 4.20.4-lxpup64
Two days runtime on the 4.20.4-lxpup64 kernel. All in LxPupSc 19.01.1 on the i5 based Fujitsu S761, frugal Grub4Dos install. As with 4.20.2 and 4.20.3, all system and dmesg checks, boots, idle CPU % and idle mem use, and mitigation basically excellent and unchanged from 4.20.1. As in the tests of 4.20.2 and 4.20.3 I have no untoward effects wrt video or bios on shutdown. Video performance is inching back up a bit with each sucessive version since the measurable drop noted with 4.20.0. Not an issue and I'm not bothering to quantify it. i915 driver tweaks?
Basically completely usable on this hardware with LxPupSc 19.01.1. Daily use involves Sylpheed and Slimjet, flash weather animation, a few simple car related youtubes, some simple text editing, lots of downloads and printing, PDF handling, simple calculator flogging, and a bit of spreadsheet work. External drives mounted and unmounted repeatedly to back up ongoing work, both USB3 stick and external USB3 connected SSDs.
Took my newest and roughest S761 i5 running 4.20.3 on 19.01 +1 to a weather dictated hotel overnight/medical appointment. Flawless connection where my wifes android tablet bobbled it. Puppy has come a long way in that respect since the days of yore
I am going to use an LxPupSc install as the kernel testbed and not do LxPupSc64 for a bit partly just to get more consistent runtime and partly because running ..64 I miss a few must-have 32 bit apps so I tend not to use it as much.
Cheers,

Get LibreOffice fetches 64 bit version
Similar problem as with the flashplayer. Get LibreOffice fetches the 64 bit version.

System checks per 2 posts up of the 4.20.5-lxpup64 kernel on the second gen i5 laptop. No problems or changes noted, video FPS now on par with the 4.14 and 4.9.x series kernels I run. 4 days or so runtime in LxPupSC 19.01 +2 and system checks and a bit of runtime in LxPup64 19.01 +3. All good so far.

Kernel Release: 4.20.7-lxpup64 swapped into the current LxPupSc and LxPupSc64 pups. Boot, sound, wireless, standard system checks and video FPS all ok on first look in both. I have about 5 days running 4.20.6 in both with no problems at all to note. I'll run with 4.20.7 in them from now. Slimjet Version 21.0.8.0 run-as-spot continues to run very well in this kernel swapped LxPupSc as does 21.0.7.0 in the kernel swapped LxPupSc64.

Running the 4.20.10 kernel in both LxPupSc 19.01 +3 and LxPupSc64 19.01 +3 on the intel i5 based Fujitsu S761 laptop. Nothing seen to report in either. The usual system checks done and taxes finished up. MasterPDFEditor called upon for its once-a-year duties fixing bad fillable forms etc. As usual bouncing between upupbb, upupcc, and the two LxPups. Common profiles for mail, browser, clipboard, etc., having all data outside pupspace and using SFS loaded main progs makes it pretty seamless. Wallpaper reminds me which I'm in

Kernel 4.20.12 up for two days in both LxPupSc 19.01 +4 and LxPupSc64 19.01 +4. Running on the Fujitsu S761 i5 based laptop, Grub4Dos frugal install to SSD. Systemchecks on both look fine, daily use ok also. Done with taxes so everything saved, sent, printed, and MasterPDFEditor put away and back to pretty mundane daily use only. I'm in LxPupSc right now.
Basically nothing to note on either at this point.
Cheers,
