10 minutes, 2 downloads, 1 USB Flash drive. Booting Puppy from a USB Flash Drive.

http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-tahr/iso/tahrpup%20-6.0-CE/ Tahrpup 6.0 directory has Tahrpup 6.0.2 NOPAE .ISO file or PAE .ISO file

Download Tahrpup 6.0.2 .ISO file about 200 Megabytes

Download Rufus.exe about 1.5 megabytes from http://rufus.akeo.ie

Insert USB Flash Drive in USB slot on computer. Execute Rufus.exe program. Select the right USB Flash Drive. Select the Tahrpup_6.0.2.iso file to install. Now write the .ISO file to the USB Flash Drive. Exit Rufus.exe program Reboot your computer. PuppyLinux TahrPup 6.0.2 should come up. If not, change the Bios setting, Boot Drive order, to boot from USB first before CD and before Hard Drive.

http://www.linuxliveusb.com Another Windows application to download and install a linux distribution to a USB Flash Drive.

http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm A power utility to write .ISO image files to CD or DVD.
Yes, write CDs at 2x or 4x slow speed, Even if the CD disk supports x48 or x52 writing speed.

I have enjoyed using http://PuppyLinux.org Tahrpup 6.0.2 from a USB Flash Drive on my laptop computers. Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela was really enjoyable to use, also. I am typing this from a laptop that dual boots Windows 7 and PCBSD 10.2 http://pcbsd.org
http://lxle.net/ is another good choice for a light weight linux distribution.

Review over 100 linux distributions at http://distrowatch.com

ps. can a forum administrator sticky this howto, please?
