Business Software Gems

#1 Post by Cadejo »

All,

I wanted to share these nice little Gems of software, their more on the business side of things, so I help they'll make you more productive

1. Dia. For drafting and flow charting
2. Cherrytree. Powerful hierarchal notetaking software
3. MuPDF. Barebones PDF reader, very fast, better than Evince IMO
4. Xournal. For PDF Markup, very freehand similar to Onenote. Powerful.
5. Yed. The best flowchart software around, it's Java so it's massive.
6. Xpad. Desktop stickies.
7. KeepassX. Cross platform password manager.
8. OOlite. Lite open office.
9. Clementine. Very cool music player.
10. Planner (full). The original planner was deprecated for space reasons. This is a nice PM tool but is missing resource leveling and smoothing. or
10a. Projectlibre. Full featured, powerful and massive project management software.
11. JPilot. This is a planner used for the Palm, but works great as a stand-alone replacement for OSMO.

Anyways, I was thinking about making a distro, but if it's just the default software that's changed to be more business oriented, figured you could download it yourself.

I also use some cool plugin in Thunderbird/lightning called "gantt view" helps with project management/time management.

Hope this helps

IIRC whilst OOlite was OK its spreadsheet/calc was limited to something like 255 rows, which for me was a show-stopper.

For the OOlite files, they're here. The website has changed, it's hosted by french developers that put out an english version.

I was looking at this, not sure if anyone would be interested in an "enterprise" version of puppy, seeing that the scope could get way out of hand.

I conducted a thought experiment to build a client with matching servers for work flow and business management like Postbooks for ERM/Accounting, Project libre has a server version on the books, and there could be some network monitoring software thrown in, the idea was to provide a drag and drop enterprise buisness solution all on OSALT alternatives running Puppy.

Again, the scope.

The tools I posted are business oriented more for operations/project management, that fits more on the client side/Puppy Linux concept'ish.
