Qupzilla crashes very often (news papers etc.). I would prefer because that xombrero. It can be installed from depository from Trisquel (not as xombrero but as xxxterm, like in Ubuntu!) but present the same actual problems as in all other newer Puppys: Extremly large border around all entry fields for selections like favicons (in that forum) and other editor entries so that you sometimes can read nothing around such entry fields...
An idea how to eliminate such borders (prevent that this happen or eliminate all borders! It would also be a way...)?
Are perhaps some *.pets or, better, *.sfs available for xombrero for the modern system libraries?

second problem on Librepup:
like in the most other Puppy's, the access et quitting in Librepup is not logic:
not all puppyist's are happy with save files but nothing will be do to change only minimal details to permit them to accede and quit puppy easily:
a - the two invitations windows after first start would better be time controlled and desappear after a waiting loop from ... seconds!
b - the default value after exit would better "no save file": it is no problem for those willing to use a save file to change the selection to "yes" ONCE (after that will the question never appear any more) better as to force those users not willing to use them each time they restart or quit puppy to change the default selection: it is an abusive inconsequence and can be eliminate easily for all future in Woof / WoofCE/FreeWoofCE!
same thing with the keyboard table: that is absurd! Why those rolling tables? I know what kind of keyboard I am using: It is printed at the backside of my separate keyboard or on the box of my laptop! Why not to use an entry field directly? Swiss people did be the first people in the world to realize Internet but are excluded in tables of Puppy since more than 10 years in the most tables of the most number of Puppy's where other NON OFFICIAL languages (French catalan in Librepup etc.) are today to be found without difficulty! And as unlogic is also, don't to use the keyboard variant field because of those rolling countries or keyboards table: An direct entry field would solve that problem immediately: you enter only 7 little chars, for ex. "us intl", and all is immediately correct...

wifi
I'm an old user who hasn't done building, compiling, etc.. possible to build "almost libre" puplets - i.e Librepup with a non-free kernel, to support WiFi cards that need non-free firmware..
I just put in an Intel card to replace the Broadcom; still not seen.
So if some kind person wants to help, I'd be grateful.
Thanks,
Sheldon

Re: wifi
That is a non-free kernel, I guess (unless you used Linux-libre). This is not a solution for users that care about their freedom.mandibule2005 wrote:Hello i change the kernels to 3.17.7 and that fix the problems.
Again, as I said in the first post: people, please don't offer or recommend non-free software.
Intel cards require non-free firmware too. Personally, I use the Atheros AR9285 on my Thinkpad and an AR9271 dongle on my other laptops.sheldonisaac wrote:I just put in an Intel card to replace the Broadcom; still not seen.

I needed to update PPM before I could download applications.
It's working well on this pc.

Today my friend loaned/gave me a card from a broken computer, and it works with Librepup.Iguleder wrote:Intel cards require non-free firmware too. Also a USB adapter, and it too works.

Hello iguleder & all.
Hopefully this is new info and I'm not repeating a previous post.
Working on something else, I accidentally discovered that in librepup
the installed-by-default homebank is missing the libosp.so.5 library,
a copy of which can be found here.
I hope this helps. BFN.

Hello all.
"Curiouser and curiouser", says Alice's Rabbit...
Please see attached screen capture. Does anybody have an explanation?
Why does a gcc error appear when trying to update .Xresources live?
When xrdb is used this way, when I restart Xclock, all the foreground
colors in Xclock are black. They shouldn't be, as these colors have been
carefully chosen to form a theme.
For reference, here is my Xclock color configuration in .Xresources:
Thanks in advance for any leads.

Ok... The above was not the only library missing to be able to run xrdb in
librepup. Here is the URL of a *.pet archive containing all of them,
-- https://www.adrive.com/public/bypCZJ/xr ... up-6.x.pet --
and in tree form, their list:

Hello all.
I'm still in the "curiouser and curiouser" series. In LibrePup, the planner
project manager is missing the libgnomecanvas-2 library.
My LibrePup ppm was on sick leave today, even after updating it.
So I'm giving you the URL from the ALT-Sysyphus repo at pkgs.org.
After it got its missing lib, planner worked fine on this 32-bit computer.
I hope this helps. BFN.

Hello all.
Here are a couple of other reportedly missing libs:
* you may want to open directory /lib and copy
__ libssl.so.0.9.7 to libssl.so.0.9.8
__ libcrypto.so.0.9.7 to libcrypto.so.0.9.8
Those are actually links to libssl.so.1.0.0 and libcrypto.so.1.0.0,
respectively, who are already in the /lib directory. Those libs are required
by gs (aka ghostscript) and ppmtojpeg.
Add'l note:
* the libgnomecanvas lib above is also supporting notecase.
All of the above will be reported missing (and a few others) if you open a
terminal in a pristine LibrePup and type:
I did the same for dirs /bin and /usr/local/bin, and no missing libs were reported for the apps in those directories.
I'll keep you posted.
Bye for now.
